Earlier tonight on the Beyond Entertainment forums synth92 posted a small project he’s been working on with Halo 4. One of the top requested changes for Halo 4 from the competitive crowd is the removal of flinch and the return of descoping, . Thanks to synth92, he made an alpha version he built from scratch showing off the long requested feature. On top of that he’s also working on a classic version of Capture The Flag. Below is a quick breakdown of the mods:
Update #1 With Beyond and Synth
- Apparently, the descope mod doesn’t work well with Forerunner weapons at the moment.
- Weaponless Flag holding is achieved by giving the player an Oddball and then deleting it immediately after.
- Flag juggling “doesn’t seem impossible” to include with the mods.
- It is 100% confirmed that we can get modded No Sprint + Descope gametypes.
Update #2 With Beyond and Synth
Not only is this an extremely complicated mod, it is not something that is actually coded, nor does it technically remove the flinch mechanic. Synth92 is using some coding “tricks” to essentially trick the game into implementing descope. This is NOT something that is a full fledged feature and we will probably see more bugs down the road. Therefore, this is not something that 343 needs to “explain” or give a statement on. It’s simply a modder finding a unique way to “recreate” a wanted feature with the tools we are given. For an absolutely perfect descope to work, we still have to wait for the next Halo title from 343.
