According to a report from The Verge, a tech demo shown off by Microsoft today showed Halo 4 running on a low-end PC and a Windows Phone device.
This was pulled off by streaming the game using Microsoft’s cloud-based streaming technology which further hints at the Xbox One having the power to play Xbox 360 games using the cloud considering the console won’t have backwards compatibility.
The tech demo itself showed Halo 4 being played via the aforementioned devices using an Xbox 360 controller, and on the Windows Phone (Lumia 520) – the latency was reduced to 45 ms. However, it was mentioned multiple times throughout the conference that this tech demo was simply a prototype and it’s future will result on how much it costs and how well it works.
Earlier this year, 343 Industries teamed up with Vanguard Games to bring Halo: Spartan Assault, a top down shooter following in the shoes of Spartan Sarah Palmer, to Windows 8 mobile devices.
