Haven’t hopped aboard the Halo 3 hype train yet and still want to know what’s new in Halo 4’s Matchmaking this week? Well then, I’ve got something just for you. This week marks the return of Oddball as a rotational standalone playlist, as well as a small but important change to the Team Slayer playlist and let us not forget the introduction of “v5” settings into Team Throwdown.
A few weeks back, the matchmaking team experimented with Team Slayer by adding a Majestic DLC requirement to the playlist. This was to see how the playlist would sustain, especially with the Game of the Year edition releasing soon. Nearly instantly, the playlist took a massive hit and became one of the least popular playlists.
Due to this, the DLC requirement is being removed so players can enjoy their 4v4 Slayer experience once again with optimal search times.
Now that the “v5” settings created by Gh057ayame have been released, the matchmaking team is going to be updating Team Throwdown to replace the prior “v4” settings.
The 11 gametype list now looks like this:
- Team Slayer on Abandon
- Team Slayer on Haven
- Extraction on Haven
- Team Slayer on Onyx
- Team Slayer on Pitfall
- Ricochet on Pitfall
- CTF on Simplex
- Ricochet on Simplex
- CTF on Skyline
- Extraction on Station 9
- Team Slayer on Vertigo
As you can see, Ricochet is now a playable gametype in the Team Throwdown playlist, you can read more about “v5” and some of Gh057ayame’s choices over in the 10.9.13 Halo Bulletin.
Now that King of the Hill has been around for two weeks, it is time to say goodbye and give a big welcome back to Oddball which hasn’t had its own playlist for months.
Similar to King of the Hill, it will feature the regular variant and a “Legendary” variant using settings similar to Team Slayer.
Finally, a third gametype will be available in the third voting slot known as “Stickyball”. Players will start off with a Sticky Detonator and Plasma Grenades. Teams will still be tasked with grabbing the Oddball and scoring points, while trying to avoid the balls of fun.
If you like this gametype, be sure to keep voting for it as it is possible the gametype may be included in Action Sack depending on how popular it is.
Finally this week, Episode 5 – “Memento Mori” will be added to the Spartan Ops hoppers this week in the on-going Season 1 Encore.
Episode 5 – “Memento Mori”
“Infinity discovers the truth about Forerunner Prometheans.”
You’ll be able to play the following chapters this week:
- Spartan Miller on The Gate
- Nothing Can Go Wrong on The Refuge
- Everything Has Gone Wrong on The Refuge
- The Cauldron Base on The Cauldron
- Spartan Thorne on Quarry
The following Skulls are enabled: Grunt Birthday Party, IWHBYD and Mythic.
That’s all for this week!
