Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Discussion

Recommended Posts

If the price is legitimately too much, in the sense that you simply cannot afford it, then you probably don't have any business buying the console/games/XBL unless they were all gifts. In any case, unless an event happens to occur next door, you'll never make it out to anything where it matters due to travel expenses anyways.

Works out about £95/100 over here, I'll be buying it without question. I also think this and the normal pad should now be the only tournenant legal pads. The market is saturated with custom pads and company's and each one is different, that to me is an unfair advantage.

Wipe the slate clean and allow unmodified versions of the elite and normal one pad at tournenant a for a clear simple and even playing field.

I'm tired of people saying this.

It is ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS FOR A FUCKING CONTROLLER.

They just know they can siphon off the maximum amount of cash because "hardcore" gamers are gulliable enough to be tricked by their marketing.

The console is cheap what you get for it, and spending 50$ for a game when that can potentially last you thousands of hours (like Halo) is actually a deal. I get XBL for 45$ a year off of amazon so thats cheap too.

And I am almost certain it's going to break after a couple of months of frequent usage.

Atleast the Razer Onza was acceptably priced. Sure those things were even more trashy, but you could buy 3-4 of them for the price of one of these 150$ cash grabs.

If someone can make a XB1 controller with mappable buttons for around 50$ i'll be sure to buy one, but Scuff and MS won't ever be seeing any money from me with a price so high up in the sky.

I really don´t understand this argument. In every sport the individual have the possiblity to pick the equipment that suits him the best. The controllers doesn´t change the bloom or anything, it is just a matter to get a controller that fits your personal preferences. I would, for example, be amazed if Assault and Suddoth had the same personal preferences. The purpose of the controller is not to prevent the player from reaching their potential and I am pretty certain that one type of controller can´t be perfect for everyone. So introduce only one controller to tournaments is an unfair advantage (for the people who's personal preferences match that controller), not the other way around.

A personal preference I think, when I attempted to play cod you could tell how much of an advantage scufs put people. And I agree if you want to use modified pads/equipment etc then yeah go for it! How ever if there is an unfair advantage it's the manufacturer, cheap stuff vs expensive vs different makes/models. I'd just like to see some clarity across the board so everyone uses the same decent high quality gear.

Also the elite has just been found for £50/$77 http://www.shopto.net/video-games/xbox-one/XB1AC42-xbox-one-elite-controller

I totally get what your saying, but by this reasoning, gaming would be a privilege reserved for the middle class or higher. Also, some people just play for fun and don't worry about competing at a high level.

The reason I think the pricing is absurd has to do with the quality of the xb1 and my experience so far. Nothing about this console feels "next-gen" or justifies the price of a controller worth two-thirds of the console. It all boils down to being an awful investment on every level.

I can totally understand thinking that the controller is a bad investment. Its definitely pricey but at the same time the only quality controllers we've ever had come directly from MS. Scuff just modifies what MS already made afaik. In this case we're presumably paying for that quality. They still have the normal controllers and all of that works perfectly fine for anyone this is just for people with money to blow on a nice controller and MS entering the higher end controller market.

LOL

You guys might as well buy a damn PC.

$400 Xbox One + $150 Controller = $550

You can get a damn good PC for that money.

ALSO

If you really wanted to buy a new controller I would just go for the XIM4 which is $120... Mouse and Keyboard on the console yay!

Of course M$ released it so everyone loves it now lol, same shit people with a lot of money will still buy the best toys that give them advantages, XIM4, SCUF, Elite Controller.

Disagree. It is pricey but worth it if you are serious because it actually improves your overall experience and is more fun rather than just helping you play better.

Also, gaming monitors, premium headsets, and shady shit like Adderall already exist. Are we going to ban those too?

Online matchmaking play isn't even that serious to get worried about someone beating you because they have a better controller. And if you are good enough to win money in online tourneys then you should buy one of these.

Everyone uses the same monitor at tournaments. I don't think he's worried about unfair advantages online. Because that will always happen.

People drop like $200+ on astros. They spend at least $150 on Scuf controllers. They are appealing to the same crowd.

Even the FGC spend like $150-200 for arcade pads.

Your "PC Master Race" attitude comes off as smug and annoying.

Well someone has to do it haha. It's my jerb! XD

The controller is pricey though, it better be worth the money.

That's some flawed logic right there. "If you can't afford to buy every game that comes out then you probably have any business buying the consoles". You might as well had just said that.

Who cares man. PC>MSFT. YOu're actually doing people a favour by convincing them to switch to PC. You end up spend less money on games with Steam sales, etc.

I just bought the Valve complete pack for $27. I wanted Halo-1,2 and CS GO. That would've cost me around $40 without the sale. With the sale i ended up getting 21 extra games.

True, but you already get a controller with your One. You don't get a fight stick with your console. If you play a lot of FGs it's worth the investment. Even when i played a lot of Halo i thought Scufs were a big waste of money. Nor did i think i needed it. But when you're playing fighting games on the 360 with a 360 controller..lol you'll wanna stick

Not really sure what to respond with other than, well, no. That isn't what was said at all. Its more along the lines of "If you can't afford $150 dollars you probably shouldn't be spending $500+ dollars to play video games to begin with." People can do whatever they want with their money but that doesn't make it a good decision lol

People can afford to make an investment on a console and buy games every now and then. Why spend $150 on a controller if you already own a controller and can use that $150 on games? That's why your logic is flawed. "If you can't afford this then you probably shouldn't get that".

I could afford to buy the controller, but i'd rather use my $150 on other things, like GAMES or a fight stick. I don't the Elite controller, i will already own a controller.

Edit: I'm not saying the controller doesn't look nice and that it would be nice to have, but not for over $80. $100 is the highest i would go.

You're making up an argument to speak against if that is your point. The entire basis of the post you quoted was under the assumption that you could not afford it and not that you didn't want to pay for it. Those are two entirely different situations

Well not being able to afford it could also mean i could save money, but why save $150 when i can buy a game?"

Why do I get the feeling that this controller was specifically built for Halo specifically Halo 5?   :P

Not only this, but it might be the best thing for Halo at its entirety, meaning first party specialist controller. I know I'm putting a lot of money on a controller for saying that, but mark my words, it matters more than skeptics could think. Also, modular components are a must for all future controllers IMO.

Holy shit... I want this controller so badly. This is going to be so great for the competitive scene, especially H5. God I am getting so hyped

been using sensitivity curves for a while on my controller now, works very well for vehicles or games with bad stick mechanics (like CSGO)

for the most part it sucks for infantry though, the turn prediction usually suffers a lot

not a fan of heavy controllers though, those steel elements should have been replaced by a lighter material

Custom button layouts makes this an instant buy for me. I have wanted that for years with Halo. It is one sexy piece of hardware.
