Halo: The Master Chief Collection Compensation - ODST Campaign & Relic

Recommended Posts

This has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can – and need – to do better for Xbox fans around the world.  We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all of your patience as we worked through these issues.  As a token of our appreciation and to thank fans for the continued support and understanding, we will be offering the following items, for free, to anyone who has played Halo: The Master Chief Collection online since launch (11.11.14) through today (12.19.14).*

  • 1 Month of Xbox Live Gold
  • Exclusive In-Game Nameplate
  • Exclusive In-Game Avatar

* For specifics on eligibility and further details on the offer, visit the FAQ at:https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/halo-the-master-chief-collection-thank-you-faq

Additionally, you’ve told us that you want more Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer map content and Halo 3: ODST on Xbox One.  As a future bonus, we’re going to make these happen and give them to you for free.  We are just now starting work with our partners to bring both toHalo: The Master Chief Collection and will share more specific details on timing in the coming months.  But for now, here’s what you can expect:

  • Halo 3: ODST Campaign – Development has just started on the campaign for Halo 3: ODST, which will be available within Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and upgraded to 1080p resolution, running at 60fps. It will be available for free to anyone who has played Halo: The Master Chief Collection since launch (11.11.14) through today (12.19.14).* Thanks to our friends at Bungie for creating the original “Halo 3: ODST” campaign.

  • “Relic” Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer Map – Available via a free content update to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, we will reimagine the fan-favorite map “Relic,” fully remastered and running at 1080p resolution and 60fps. We chose this map based on its suitability for Slayer and Objective modes and its ability to support teams of varying sizes. And you can trust that Certain Affinity will tune and tweak the map to make it even better than you remember.

ODST campaign was fun, would love to see ODST Firefight in there too though along with the old recon achievements.

Cool. They didn't have to do this, and they are. Do I wish we got something other than relic? Sure. It would have been nice to get a map suitable for HCS but whatever. Relic is a classic.

They bring us Relic and ODST campaign. Knowing that they are running the HCS and that the map pool is extremely small they still disregard everything and go for casuals. I want a better remake. Not happy with 343 this makes matters worse.

Should have picked Midship and I'm not head over heads for it. It would have opened the door for 4 HCS gametypes makes no sense to pick Relic

On the plus theyre doing something

I didn't expect us to get anything, especially not for free.

Relic? Really? I mean, it was one of the funner casual maps. But there are so many better ones they could of picked.

Well, 1 month of XBL isn't bad. I really didn't expect to see anything for compensation but maybe 1 month of xbl.

I wouldn't mind them charging $20 for one map and putting that money into a prize pool for sanctioned events. I feel as if they are not connected to the community at all and they just spur out lies as if they are connected.

I agree, especially considering we have 3 maps for HCS right now. I thought it should of been another competitive map. I'm not being ungrateful for what we're being given, just seems like the logical thing to do.

Relic is one of the most underrated maps ever imo. Also I loved the ODST campaign. This is a really nice gift for all of us who have been screwed over for the last month.

Spartan Ops is out next week - biggest thing to take away from this.

Relic is cool and all, but why not remake Ivory Tower or Beaver Creek knowing that they need more competitive maps for their own sanctioned league? I guess that would make too much sense though  :kappa:

It makes sense in the overall picture. There are only 2 maps suitable for BTB in H2A at the moment. There are 4 possibly 5 suited for 4v4.

I love Relic, and you can't really complain about the compensation. It really is above and beyond what anyone expected.

Though, I would have died if they gave us a competitive map along with Relic, like Midship.

Probably because Ivory Tower and Beaver Creek were redone in Halo Reach. Along with midship (or whatever that abomination is) being done in Halo 5.

Why aren't they including firefight and remastering Midship.  :salt:

If it means not breaking the game then I'm okay with just the ODST Campaign.

Keeping it simple with MCC DLC is necessary, IMO.
