Great read, thanks for sharing. It was your post that finally had me sign up rather than lurk on Beyond. For all its trolls, the Halo community across the years has always struck me a great and supportive community of like-minded folks, who love the game and love to share their love of the game, who contribute and help, and make Halo more than just a game but a community.

I count that as my biggest achievement here on Beyond.  :)

Halo helped me too, I am 33 now but a decade ago Halo was a way for me be entertained without dropping big bucks at bars, clubs, and casinos. It also helped me avoid drugs/alcohol. Lastly, it provided me with a social outlet since I basically worked from home by myself and didn't have the co-workers relationships many others take for granted.

That about sums it up for me too

That.Was.Beautiful  "sniff-sniff"

This reminds me that Halo isnt just an award-winning and incredibly popular, or used to be, video game series...its an experience. But not THAT much more than a video game.

Amazing story, I'm glad that you stuck with things even through your hardships, it's very inspiring. I too, am very passionate about Halo. Strangely enough, I think Halo started my social life. When I was younger, I was anti-social and now I can be quite the chatterbox. Welcome to the site and good luck in the future!

Thanks man, I really appreciate it :-)

And thanks to all the rest of you guys. It means a lot.

When we had some friends over for dinner a couple of weeks ago they had their nine year old son with them. He dropped his jaw  when he saw my man cave so we started talking. He had received a 360 on his birthday and played COD all the time. He was only acquainted with Halo but he had never played it. So I did my best to make him understand that he was doing it wrong (of course in a good and a cheerful way). I'm pretty sure that he will wish for a xbone and MCC for Christmas. We older people have an obligation to ensure that our younger generations are doing the right choices. biggrin.gif

Hmmm, that can be a interesting topic for a thread..."Are you promoting Halo IRL?".
