They seem alright, just make sure you get an Intel i5, however its always a bit cheaper to build it yourself.

Yeah I'm getting a i5 and having my friend help me choose the customizations. I would build it if I had more trust in myself to not fuck it up haha.

Building a PC is rather easy now-a-days. Just always remember to ground/destatic yourself :)

SSDs are the greatest things ever. So happy I finally made the switch.

They are so fast! When Windows 10 comes out I might put a 1TB SSD in my main rig. Currently I have a 512GB 840pro.

It's nice that they're finally coming down in price. Hopefully they replace HDDs in the consumer market soon.

I'd really like to get rid of my 128gb SSD and get something like a 500gb; so annoyed at having to make room or delete things because I run out of room but I want to maintain that speed.

850 Evo 500GB for only $180 Hnnnng!

Not sure if it's true about ALL SSD's but a lot of them actually get faster the higher the capacity is due to more memory banks to stripe data from.

My friend wants to get into the competitive scene when h5 drops.

What Gear should he get for headphones and monitor?

For headphones I recommended Astro A40's, but now that I think of it, only the 360 comes with the mixamp.

and the Xb1 A40's is just something you plug into your x1 controller.

So what should he get for the h5 xb1 setup? and tournament??

Also what monitors should he get?  I mean I can go to the monitor section of OT, but I guess two questions in one post

Any suggestions would be great.

You have to buy the new A40s and the new Mixamp separately. The M80 only does stereo sound, not the Dolby Digital Surround.

Buy the PC Astro A40 + MIXAMP PRO

http://www.astrogaming.com/a40-headset/A40-HEADSET-ASTRO-GEN2-PC.html

http://www.astrogaming.com/mixamp%E2%84%A2-pro/3AM99-AGU9X-975.html#start=1

That will run you $280 for "Competitve Audio"

For the monitor...

I recommend the BENQ RL2460HT

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014374

  • 2 HDMI Ports
  • 1 HDMI Out Port, pretty much like a built in splitter. He can stream using this method.
  • 1080p 75Hz( 60Hz Console )
  • 1ms response time
  • Typical BENQ competitive bells and whistles

This is the best monitor IMO for Competitive Console gaming. If he does like to game on the PC as well I could recommend a 144Hz monitor too.

This will run $230.

Thanks,

What's the difference between the PC headset and the 360 headset?

Also, the 360 mixamp that comes with the headset looks the same as the one you buy separately , and sold together seems $30 cheaper too.

I paid $120 for my 830 3 years ago, good deal, just not as much storage as I want now.

Isn't it a little odd, if not suspicious that...

  1. I said, by chance, a (news outlet) website is so terrible that they should expect a DDoS attack:
  2. That it actually happened merely weeks after I posted snark? Hmm. Odd indeed.

I'm not a script junkie BTW.

Microsoft just laid off 7,800 employees.

Typical MS, but if it keeps the Lumia brand from having the same problems Samsung has with releasing twenty phones in two months (18 variants, basically the same), then I'd expect such a move.

Shame. I hope they keep track of what made the Lumia great. I also hope those who were laid off can easily recover.

Anyone have Astro A50s?  I have a pair and for some reason they turn off every 15 mins or so.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?
