Skateboarding Thread

So, how many of you forum-goers  skateboard, or take an interest in the skate lifestyle? Who are some of your favorite skate boarders? Do you rep any certain brand of style? (Crooks, Hundreds, Blvd, Vans, ...etcetera)

I've been skating for a while now - around five years. Skating is something that has grown upon me as both a hobby and lifestyle. It provided me with an efficient way to escape from the usual issues that teenagers ran into, while also giving me a chance to build new friendships with people who have the same interests as I do.

So, feel free to discuss anything regarding skating in this thread.

 Cheers!

I skated for a while a few years ago but only got so far before I quit. I could land a few ground tricks but since then I've just switched to Longboarding. Mainly use it as a means of transportation to get to work and other places.

Some of my friends are into sliding and bombing hills on LB's and thats pretty cool.

Past few years I've taken up Flow Boarding which is crazy awesome.

favorite skaters are sheckler, chris cole, & a lot of the guys that were on the baker crew back in the day around 2005/6.

Well, street skated from 10-14, then stopped when I moved. Still have the deck laying around and will mess around on it from time to time, but I'm by no means good.

Last year I picked up longboarding, and it's become my preferred style of skating. Going fast, and sliding at speed is fun as hell, and not too technical. Not to mention I'm not swatting my shins with a 2x4 constantly. I live in a relatively flat area, but our downtown area has a few hills that are fun. I've got a goal to hit 30mph in the next month or so, and then aim for 40-45 later on. Hit 24, but took a poor line, and I can't pre-drift the corner like I need to. Some day though...

As for favorite skaters: James Kelly, Sergio Yuppie, P. Swiss, Rodney Mullen (obligatory). Rodney is the reason I keep my street deck around, honestly. I get so inspired to get out and keep skating. Such a genuine guy, too.

I once masturbated to a porno in which the plot included skateboarding. You're not allowed to skate here! You naughty, naughty girl.

I used to skate years ago and I did a few times this summer just for fun. My fav skater is Rodney Mullen, he is so creative with his tricks and has such a unique style with his flatground tricks that is unmatched. I also like Sean Malto.

I skated Zero exclusively as I always thought their boards were premium. I used to really love skating with my friends everyday but gradually everyone stopped by the time high school came around.

I wasn't very good but am looking to get back into over the summer as I won't have Internet. But I also can't skate until I get health insurance in case I bust my shit (i've never broken anything skating but have snowboarding). I stopped because I learned fundamentals completely ass backwards in that I push regular but can only ollie goofy. So riding and ollieing is a challenge which obviously ruins everything. I could push mongo to solve the problem, but even riding goofy for that brief amount of time messes me up. But it would be easier to do that than to learn how to switch ollie.

I could push mongo to solve the problem, but even riding goofy for that brief amount of time messes me up. But it would be easier to do that than to learn how to switch ollie.

Just push around regularly. Put on some headphones, find a nice street or just cruse on sidewalks in your city and get comfy on the board.

Be forewarned though. When you naturally push mongo, but are learning to push forward, your push foot is probably going to push/hit your tail and back wheel a lot and it makes the board suddenly turn under you and you eat shit just like on pebbles. I learned this the hard way.

I push mongo switch and fuck the scene for telling me otherwise. There is a fundamental foundation of etiquette in skateboarding and the culture, but this and many others are stupid as shit. If I feel comfortable a certain way, deal with it. ( Plus I am way better than these dudes in my town. lol )

Also, if you're trying to start a layer of improvement to your skateboarding do 2 things.

1. Get a good solid ollie, and ollie the shit out of everything. This will help you over come the fear of going down gaps and stairs when it comes to tricks. If you can ollie something, you can trick it. ( Unless you diving down El Toro.....then just don't do it. )

2. Learn tricks on flat and only flat for a longggggg time until you have a good bag of them to use and you're consistent. I can't tell you how many kids can ollie the biggest shit in my town, but they struggle with flatground tres or even kickflips. It's the weirdest shit ever.

From there, learning tricks down shit is hard to describe. You just have to know the feeling. Catching your board on a trick in midair down a gap is the best feeling it the world and it's really satisfying, but it's something only you can figure out with experience. So you really have to just take a deep breath, tell yourself not to be a pussy and do it. It's scary, so the only thing you can do is know you can die, accept it, keep your mind blank, and go for it. It's really easy to know when to bail and when you have a good catch.

Learning how to fall is a big one too. My big thing is to just go down feet first, and as soon as I feel flatground again, tuck and roll. You'll be iight even down huge shit.

Just learn the fundamentals and go from there.

And handrails....lol Idk because I am too scared to do them. My buddy who is sponsored by his local shop in Wilmington NC can, but.....nah fuck that. lmao

Im a baker & deathwish kid at heart...here is what i ride right now.

Set up

Deck - Character Skateboards
Wheels - Oj Wheels
Trucks - Tensor

If you want to check out a good underground skater my best friend is sponsored by a lot of major companies including DC & Neff. We are from illinois and he won the Nike SB Illinois Battle for Abberica.

Ill post a video of him but if you go to you tube and search "Corey Hendricks" thier are a ton of sick videos. I however do not skate at this level but can do most of the basic tricks and have a good time at a park.

This video is a classic.

Later hope you guys enjoy.

Yes, I also enjoy my ride on HyperOutdoor skateboard and I feel myself fit and healthy throughout the day after skateboarding. My body muscles get active and my brain works faster. We must include a game in our lives to remove negative energy.
