OG Nick Posted May 25, 2018 I want Supermelee to come back. It's getting boring around here. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
arglactable Posted May 25, 2018 Skipping through these posts as someone thinks it’s a good idea to take out grenades and melee of halo ? Wow.... I remember some bungie employee saying the 3 golden things that make halo, halo is weapons, Nades and melee and he was right. Then they give us armour lock 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Basu Posted May 25, 2018 What really is going to happen: > Conference held inside a giant car > Here at Microsoft Studios we acknowledge that the past few years have not been our best... > However in the background we've been working on something that will make it worth the wait... > Without you, we wouldn't be able to achieve what we've done so far... > You are the engine that powers this company... > The audience starts making motor noises... > We're proud to have one of the best teams in the world with us... > Ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to announce..... > Bugatti car appears out of the blue... > Forza [whatever version it is now] > Audience starts dying from the excitement > Camera focuses on the "I witnessed the best line up in gaming history" shirts xbox drones are wearing > Phill Spencer saves xbox YET AGAIN So last year's E3 again? Ramirez77 Posted May 25, 2018 The whole phrase originates from a Bungie employee talking about how the Halo 3 AR works well with the "three golden things of Halo, guns, grenades, and melee"...then in the very next sentence they go on to talk about how equipment adds more ways to engage in a fight. It's never been some kind of untouchable design mantra and they've never used the phrase "golden triangle". It's such a meaningless and inadequate phrase anyways. Pretty much any FPS to come out within the past fifteen years has guns, grenades, and melee in some form. You can say DooM 2016 plays vaguely similar to a Halo game with it's own strong emphasis on guns, grenades, and melee but very few would actually call it a Halo game. A better "golden triangle": -Recharging shields. -Emphasis on strafe battles with precision rifles (pistols). -Emphasis on map pickups. No other game possesses all three of those aspects at once. Though that's still an inadequate way to define Halo's gameplay. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

Though that's still an inadequate way to define Halo's gameplay. Halo really is an evolution of Quake intended for the console audience. The recharging shields take the place of minor armor/health upgrades you'd get from your route around a map in Quake so that you aren't on such a rigid schedule. The weapon pick up mechanics, power ups, basically everything in CE has a parallel with adjusted pacing and mechanics for a controller and more relaxed gameplay. H2 and H3 are an evolution of the CE take with, basically, the same design goals of slowing down and readjusting the basic formula. This is also why things go so wrong when you start adding stuff from different genres of shooters like some of the armor abilities or the Infinity Slayer settings from H4. They need to be careful with mechanics that are antithetical to the basic gameplay premise of moving to collect upgrades to your base player traits or weapons and respawning after deaths to repeat the gameplay loop. When its too easy to be anywhere after a death things break. When you have drop pod weapons things break. When power ups or other objectives aren't influencing you to move things break. Breakout lol. My three would probably be Intelligent and mostly constant movement Respawning Skill based shooting (or at least intelligent weapon choice) Another interesting thing is the general pacing of Halo is what makes it a good 4v4 game from H2 and beyond. If you start speeding things up rather than slowing down you start having Quake problems where the more players you have on the map the more hectic and "random" it starts feeling. Kind of like CE being a much better 2v2 than 4v4. Advanced movement could start causing that to happen again if H6 gets any faster than teams like Splyce are playing H5. Generally its when players get so fast that unless you can see them it starts being too difficult to predict where multiple players could be (hello radar for spartan abilities). Games like Quake are good for 1v1s because you have an idea of the routes and pickups they want and that along with sound cues enables prediction and smart gameplay despite speed. Supermelee24 Posted May 25, 2018 Pack it up boys. He knows every spawn point, random, and how and when it's best to us each one. yuh bet your ass I do by spending a couple hours of studying on YouTube and playing it throhhh days. I’m not a brain dead casual who can’t figure shit out Quote Share this post Link to post
Supermelee24 Posted May 25, 2018 If you knew how it worked the first moments you played doubles and you were getting constantly spawn killed then you would know that it was your partner fucking you not the spawn system. lol it wasn’t me getting spawn killed it was me doing the spawn killing Quote Share this post Link to post
TheIcePrincess Posted May 26, 2018 Let's talk about how, in a gametype where you have a broken, stupidly easy weapon off spawn (CE Throwback) that you're able to fight with, and movement to escape it, people will get 14 kills in a game, with 13 being by power weapons. When can we stop this madness and force people to fight with their guns. Quote Share this post Link to post

TheIcePrincess Posted May 26, 2018 Because the broken pistol is considered a powerweapon I completely forgot about that. Yeesh. If only I played more Warzone to understand this. TIME TO GRIND. Need my 12 man. @@arglactable @My namez BEAST Get the fuck on Halo 5, we're GRINDING. Quote Share this post Link to post

How players take damage changes based on whether they are shielded or unshielded. 2. Respawn gametypes. Strong emphasis on spawn manipulation and spawn rotations. 3. EVEN precision gunfights, courtesy of everyone spawning with a "utility" weapon (in game modes worth playing). 4. Map pick-ups (including annoying shit like camo). Quote Share this post Link to post

Supermelee24 Posted May 26, 2018 ok new topic what we need to hear/see at e3 even though we know for a FACT we won’t. Halo 6 no sprint no ability HALO game. Spawns like reach and h3 A powerful utility, make it the BR because honestly pistols as the main weapon look stupid as shit. Projectile but no spread on precision weapons will fix things. Very low aim assist on guns but not ridiculous lack of. Non broken aiming mechanics 343! Symmetrical maps and assymetrical maps similar to guardian or construct(even though this map felt more symmetrical tbh) 1-3 remakes that were loved.(guardian im sorry but it’s the one map that’s impossible to remake 1:1 because forge never has the right pieces). Ranking division style with party and skill matching. Make it so you have to get to level 15 until you can participate in rank that way the game knows said player has an idea how to play and it helps determine their placing. As for playlist at launch Ranked(MLG/hcs, Doubles, snipes, ffa(6 man) , swat and TS) Social(infection, TS(5 man) rumble pit, multi team, team obj, and btb). Before someone gets mad at the pistol comment gamers and even halo players don’t like a pistol as the main weapon. It just doesn’t look good on paper that a pistol is superior to a rifle. Ramirez77 Posted May 26, 2018 e3 will probably be hitscan BR but weaker due to all the casual backlash with Halo 5's "Call of Duty" (lmfao) killtimes. Then the main focus will be on Warzone 2.0 or Battle Royale or whatever other new shit they've cooked up. ok new topic what we need to hear/see at e3 even though we know for a FACT we won’t. Ce but better. Quote Share this post Link to post
arglactable Posted May 26, 2018 How about, since a bunch of goofballs have an pointless aesthetic hang-up about using a bad-ass, high caliber pistol in Halo, they introduce the following: Utility Weapon Customization in combination with a comprehensive, extensible skin system that they built from the ground up after throwing out Halo 5's awful cosmetics. You select WHICH weapon you use (Magnum, DMR, BR, Carbine, Light Rifle, whatever else) in the Spartan customization screen. When you pick up a "utility weapon" on the map (or spawn with it), you automatically use your selected weapon and skin (kind of like Gears 4). If you pick up someone else's on the ground, their cosmetics would remain intact. These weapons are completely identical in functionality in every way. Shallow variety achieved. Balance problems avoided. Expanded, monetizable customization options introduced. Modern FPS loadout system approximated with no negative impact on gameplay. Kiddies can start with a RIFLE AND NOT A SIDE ARM if they really need to. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
careh Posted May 26, 2018 ok new topic what we need to hear/see at e3 even though we know for a FACT we won’t. Needs to happen - PC release + planned support Should happen but probably won't - removal of gimmicks / no Sprint Never going to happen but would be a game changer - f2p with aesthetic microtransactions.
