Halo 5: Guardians Discussion

Recommended Posts

Guys, I just modified my blank white screen in Unreal Engine 4 so that it's actually a multiplayer Chess game. Unfortunately, in order to do so I was forced to make it edgy and added a number of polygons for the Chess pieces, which really fucked with the framerate. Now it can only get 30fps. This sucks because even though it's much much more cinematic now, it's clearly not as competitive as my friends Checkers game which runs at 60fps.

Is it as immersive?

On my Oculus Rift dev Kit, it feels like you're living in a movie. All the cutscenes are in glorious 24fps cinematic glory.

What if blu-rays had scenes missing as compared to the dvd version?

Just playing devils advocate.

Not sure how that compares. Are you implying 60fps games cant have as many scenes as a 30fps??

Even if that were the case, it wouldn't be worth bringing up as an argument against 60 FPS, which was essentially my point; it's not worth bringing up how smooth 60 FPS feels in support of Halo 5 as a game.

Try making lemonade at 60 FPS.

Guys, I just modified my 500fps blank white screen in Unreal Engine 4 so that it's actually a multiplayer Chess game. Unfortunately, in order to do so I was forced to make it edgy and added a number of polygons for the Chess pieces, which really fucked with the framerate. Now it can only get 30fps. Dynamic resolution could fix that for you

He's saying that devs cut out parts of the game and/or features to obtain 60 fps which is just ridiculous.

Well I wouldn't mind a few more PC people on here, now that I checked there is no link to Beyond. A shame.

Going from 90-110 fps on PC games to even 60 fps kills me. 110 fps battlefield Worlds > 60 fps battlefield.

Although, dvd to blu ray is nothing about frames per second . Just resolution. However, you could say the magnitude of user experience quality gain is similar for 30 -> 60 fps and dvd -> blu ray.

For non first person shooter games, I've found my happy median of 2160p resolution at 45 fps. PC Master race wins.

if today's games arent 60fps, i dont play them. ill play old games that are 30fps...but ill never buy a game that's 30fps in today's generation.

I know you're joking but LOL if you think 30fps is more "cinematic"

also lowering your graphics settings to improve fps + make the visuals less cluttered is absolutely a thing

Same. I go one step further too, if I can't get over 100 fps, I'll lower the settings until I do.

A competitive game cannot have a resolution under 4K you console peasant. Also, if your monitor has over 2 nanoseconds of latency, it's instantly not competitive anymore. Let me guess, you think that using a controller wouldn't affect the competitive virtues of the game either? Peasant. Everyone knows that the only way for a game to be competitive is to use Mouse/Keyboard

Personally I like 15 fps so I open porn tabs until the games I play are at 15 fps. It's like playing in slow motion which is why I like it. I feel like I can aim better too with the slower motions

So that HTT was awesome right? Didn't even require FPS to be awesome.

Nah, just needed more SPS (Sounds Per Second) :kappa:

I'm implying that devs have to make sacrifices to hit 60fps. A high framerate is a feature that has a cost in terms of what is possible within the engine.

Your blu-ray/dvd analogy was flawed because blu-rays don't require sacrifices to their content in order to work, whereas 60fps does require the limiting of features within the game.

To be clear, I'm not saying that it's not worth it. Framerate is very high on my priority list.
