I'd compare them to private groups on Bungie.net. I don't think there is any in-game integration apart from the REQ pack.

Hey guys, I could be going crazy, but did 343 ever confirm that those classic game types (oddball, koth, ect.) Won't be in-game at launch? Or are we just assuming the logical thing?

We're assuming because of a few things now:

 

• They haven't been talked about or shown
• There are no commendations relating to them
• There are no achievements relating to them
• There are no medals relating to them

 

Hopefully we'll be surprised on the 22nd.

I think you'll be able to sell the Random Weapon and Gambit: Spartan Kills cards next week but the Warrior Blade card is a permanent unlock. Better to unlock it now so you've got a better chance at some gear you want next week, too.
