After this ranking announcement, I might pass on the campaign and hop straight into arena when the game launches. This is literally the first time in 8 years a Halo game has launched with skill ranks.

 

It has me excited, too.

 

But sadly, I have to go straight into the campaign with a pad of paper and a pencil, ready to write down literally everything new and interesting I see.

Okay, well that's the price you're gonna pay if you're getting a cheaper physical copy. If you buy physical, you're gonna have to install it and then download a patch. That's ultimately your choice and you shouldn't get upset about it.

yes you can, let me try to find a link that explains how to do it. You basically would assign your wife's account as the main account on your "home Xbox" and set your account as the main account on her home Xbox.

I shouldn't get upset about the developers not allowing me to pre-load a 9GB patch so I can play the game at launch.

You realise it's not hard for them to do, right?

 

You realise that the vast majority of people pre-ordering Halo 5 aren't coming home at midnight and expecting a huge patch, right?

Gee, I dunno, perhaps because when I pay $100AUD for a retail copy of a game I expect to put in in my console and play it like I've been able to do for the past 20+ years?

 

Perhaps because I don't have unlimited data usage?

 

Perhaps because 9GB will take hours to download on my connection? I've got a job that means I won't be playing in the afternoon when the download finally finishes.

 

It's a giant "fuck you" to the thousands (tens/hundreds of thousands???) of people all over the world that pre-ordered Halo 5 so they could play the game at midnight.

I shouldn't complain about it! I should bend over, pass Microsoft some lube and let them do whatever the hell they want.

Used to game Halo with my brother all the time before he stopped playing during Halo 3. He now constantly says he hates Halo. I just game shared with him and started the Halo 5 install. Goal is to get him hooked like the old days!
