Halo 5: Guardians Discussion

Recommended Posts

If it was just sprint, with the shield recharge nerf, I think it would be ok. But like lemon said, being able to sprint thrust and chamber to get half way through the map in just a few moments is too game breaking for Halo.

Oh, and spartan charge. Honestly, just getting rid of this spartan ability would cut sprint's problems in half.

If sprint has to stay, I would love if 343 kept sprint for campaign and warzone, but got rid of it for arena game play. I don't think sprint is bad for these two modes anyhow. Any noob who is "confused" by not having the same abilities from campaign to arena will learn in about 2 seconds they can't sprint and either get over it or he will play warzone. Then we can have normal size maps again.

Are we still talking about sprint? This is 2016, sprint in never leaving Halo. Get used to it or go away. No wonder all the cool kids only post in the HWC thread.

Anyway, I have to go open my link to reactiongifs.org and the HWC thread and roll in TeamBeyond REQ points.

Here goes Lemon again not contributing to the discussion and being nothing but negative. Do something good for Halo for once you Halo 2 elitist.

I'd just like to point out that lemon went from being criticized as simply negative, to being criticized as elitist. Moving up in the world are we?

My arena rotation tonight:

empire assault

torque strongholds

overgrowth strongholds

colli assault

riptide

riptide

torque flag

Does this bother you guys like it bothers me? I miss when Arena was mostly a representation of HCS settings rather than a showcase of the content updates. It's just so wacky now. And 70% of the new gametypes suck.

He can be multiple things. Just like Bernie is called a socialist and a communist in the same breathe.

Is CSR/rank stuck for anyone else? The last few days no matter if I win or lose my CSR does not budge (while others in the game go up or down appropriately). This is happening on my main account as can be seen here in my last 5 or so games http://halo5arena.com/match/9d333861-d5f2-4f74-b8dc-11853a6f25a8/tversky-tricks?timeplayed=2016-02-27 ,but not on an alternate account I have. If anyone knows what is going on or how to fix it I would be much appreciative.

Just wanted to let you know I've been suffering from this some days. Today in particular I am not but for like a week it was happening to me a lot.

I get why they increase the weighting for the new maps but they really need to only have it like that for a few days then return it to normal.

That feeling when I go to play MCC on my new Elite console and realise that I have a 19GB patch preventing me from just 'jumping in'.

I just fell from Onyx 1755 to Onyx 1708 after being quitbanned from quitting a Riptide game because my teammate wasn't playing. I quit rarely, but anyway, has anyone else had a CSR drop after being quitbanned?

My matchmaking experience in this game is pathetic as of late. So many issues...

There was far more map variety with the veto option, IMO. 7 players in the lobby just played overgrowth? Veto it for a new map.

Vetoing is one thing I definitely miss. No one has ever told me why playing worse maps, according to the majority, not as often is a bad thing.

Are you penalized if you hard close the Halo 5 app, instead of just exiting the match in game?

People said that it forces you to get good at every map/gametype.

Vetoing should still be in the game though. It'd also help 343 know what the community hates playing, which is really important.

I guess that's true. It was always a "this map sucks" kind of thing with me though. Id take what we have now over voting any day, but I feel like the variety has actually decreased with no veto option. It was kind of fun gambling a veto though. Vetoing a mid-tier map knowing you could get an even worse map.

Also What the fk is SC doing in Grifball. That BS is an instant kill button no matter what you do to try and counter it.

Its a shite ability that has no place in the game, let a lone a melee based moded where the only counter is no longer an option withoiut guns.

Just a small thing. Hitscan and an instant projectile are not the same thing. A hitscan weapon actually performs a trace in the world from one point to another and checks for collision. No object (the projectile) is ever created. Though in Halo most, if not all, "hitscan" weapons are instant projectiles.

I looked into this a little bit. I've created content for Halo 1 in the past and have dabbled with content creation in the other titles, but I just wanted to be certain I'm not talking out of my ass.

Everything fired from a weapon is technically a projectile, they all use the same system. Hitscan has been achieved in various ways, be it an extremely high travel velocity so the bullet hits anywhere within the first frame of being shot, or literally a checkbox labeled "Travels Instantaneously." I was unaware of the latter, to be honest. Halo 2 seems to be the only title that uses this checkbox, every other title with hitscan projectiles uses buffed velocity. "Nothing is created" isn't the case, because damage, aoe, tracers, everything is tied to the projectile. It goes: Weapon > Projectile > Damage.

----------

If you have the game's map files files and some modding tools, you can pretty clearly see what's happening.

Here are Halo Reach's projectiles:

Notice how the all of the hitscan human bullets are lumped in with things like the spike rifle shard, the rocket, etc? That's because they're all use the same system.

---------

Let me give you a few examples of hitscan vs. not hitscan. These are some the bullets fired in the games.

Halo 1's pistol bullet from the PC editing kit

Halo 2's BR bullet from the PC editing kit (400 world units per second velocity, travels instantaneously is checked)

Halo 3's sniper bullet via modding tools

Reach's DMR bullet (beefed velocity, instantaneous travel unchecked)

Halo 4's mangum bullet (beefed velocity, instantaneous travel unchecked)

765cf88b27.png

ElDewrito's sniper bullet (beefed velocity, instantaneous travel unchecked)

3f53017300.png

So yes, they all use the same system

I could easily make Halo 1 hitscan by changing the velocity to 3000 for instance. But I won't because I'm not looking to get fucking executed

So, If i quit 1 match, and then play another, no matter what i do, I get banned after that match ends. Even if there is a gap between games.

Is there any way someone could make the h2 Br require leading? I've been dying to play some h2 with leading, 3sk Br, and reduced aim assist. Also, turning off headshot prioritization would be very important too.

My brother has had the same problem. Seems like they're taking bans a bit too seriously.

So am I the only one that's annoyed that red team has bits of pink in their armor?

Like really, What The Fuck?

Ya. So weird.
