Halo 5: Guardians Discussion

It's not about a classic type halo drawing older fans back. It's about classic Halo gameplay which is unique, refreshing and fantastic being able to attract more new players than what we have now.

curious, how difficult is it for the halo 5 maps to have camo and os on opposite ends, and then have two power weapons per map to fight over?

 

I've yet to see a single arena map have more than one power up.

I'll say this regarding new Halo vs. old Halo bringing back players...

 

Some of you guys underestimate the amount of casual players who quit because Halo was no longer the same game.

 

Halo 4 is direct proof that even casual players will leave if the game strays too far from what people want and expect.

 

I'd fully expect a more "classic" Halo, and one marketed in such a way, to be much more successful than Halo 5 has been.

Here are the things that will make me play your console shooter:

 

* No sprint especially

* The old scope system

* No super quick kill times

 

If you have these 3 things I will probably enjoy your game.

So as to make an accurate representation of the Halo:CE magnum?

 

Were we expecting too much?

Not at all. But the CE Pistol itself is incredibly difficult to use - maybe too difficult to be a power weapon in Warzone as intended. That's likely why we see it in its current state rather than a carbon copy of the original.

that's exactly what it needs.

 

the faster the better.

 

pistol in this game ia slow as snails.

Then why call it the CE Pistol if it doesn't function like it?  Why even designate it as a power weapon?

So the CE pistol is a bust? Oh well. At least we've got Firefightv coming.

 

Memories of Reach should be interesting. Can't wait to see that Sword Base remake! /s

it's a freaking patch with one actual new map.

New Arena map added: Torque

New game types added to Arena: Grifball, Assault, and Fiesta Slayer

Gravity Hammer added to Warzone, Arena, and Forge

Halo: Combat Evolved M6D Pistol added to Warzone and Forge

I think the reasoning is that, outside of the hardcore Halo community, people only remember the CE Magnum for being a 3sk and "overpowered" and as such is being treated as a power weapon. The magnum we got today is a representation of its legacy more so than any actual attempt at recreating the old version.

Yup, that seems to be it. I think the perception of this gun with all of its nostalgia elements is what will lead people to enjoy it. Competitive viability was never really its intent.

Having a double thrust as the carrier in assault works pretty well, got a funny ninja on a guy trying to get me with a grav hammer

Ran into a thread where the OP was arguing for randomized power weapon spawns and how randomness is more fair.

so other than the map, you really think this is some big deal?

 

the modes ffs, should have been in the game originally. all of this stuff, even forge, it's all content that should have been in the game from launch, only theyre using clever wording to make you think its completely brand new.

A new map. Two new game modes. 2 new weapons. New reqs.

 

Sure the two game modes and the hammer arguably should have been there at launch but even excluding that it's still a cool update.

 

Hell I remember being so hyped for free cold storage in h3. That was just 1 map.
