L377UC3 Posted September 1, 2015 Still crossing my fingers that there isnt a map with the callout "Orange [tower/top orange/bottomorange/orange nades] " because then ill need a new gamertag :/ Oh, Orange. Buddy. Don't worry about it. You won't need a new gamertag. You'll just never be able to leave those places. 1 Share this post Link to post
Zdann Posted September 1, 2015 The trailer looked like Avengers capeshit, portray the cast as super amazing superheroes and the enemy as incompetent idiots. I was underwhelmed honestly. 1 Share this post Link to post
Mr Grim Posted September 1, 2015 Oh, Orange. Buddy. Don't worry about it. You won't need a new gamertag. You'll just never be able to leave those places. he'll end up like boot strap bill from pirates of the Caribbean 3. 2 Share this post Link to post
calberto Posted September 1, 2015 As long as you don't have "Smooth White wall" as you your DT, you have nothing to worry about 1 Share this post Link to post
Red7101 Posted September 1, 2015 Glad to see 343 is sticking to the tradition of opening with a free fall/crashlanding. Tbh the cinematic felt underwhelming. Also, too much ground-pounding. Share this post Link to post

Toa Axis Posted September 1, 2015 Well, I must say that these last few pages have not only provided me with some entertaining stuff to read, but they were conducive to some particularly great discussion, AND they allowed us to get some frustration out of our respective systems. Good job Beyond denizens! Reminds me of why I was drawn to this site in the first place (other than THC shutting down ). Share this post Link to post
BigShow36 Posted September 1, 2015 We don't know enough to know what the overall tone of the game is. I beg to differ: The video actually looks right in line with the tone. 11 Share this post Link to post
SuperORANGE Posted September 1, 2015 So happy they took that out. Hope halo 6 is dark as hell artistically. THe reason people like games like dark souls and bloodbourne is because theyre so morbid and dark. Halo needs to take an artistic turn. they started to get there with the Reach art... fingers crossed. 1 Share this post Link to post
Vetoed Posted September 1, 2015 THe reason people like games like dark souls and bloodbourne is because theyre so morbid and dark. More tempted to say that it's because they're known to be difficult, ruthless and an actual mental challenge for the player, as opposed to 99% of games being released nowadays, where you're babysat with all too familiar mechanics, tutorials and enemies that set themselves up to be defeated. Though sure, Halo could also benefit from this sort of approach when designed (emphasis on actual challenge). But a game could be as successful and popular as Souls based on the challenge it provides, even without the ultra grim theme. It's just immersive. 2 Share this post Link to post
Cursed Lemon Posted September 1, 2015 Halo's always been somewhat cartoonish - a fact that has always kept me from taking the campaigns seriously (hello grunt battle chatter). If Halo actually got gritty, I'd be very happy. Share this post Link to post
Rolf Posted September 1, 2015 Reach was the best in this regard. I'm sad they didn't follow this route. 3 Share this post Link to post

THe reason people like games like dark souls and bloodbourne is because theyre so morbid and dark. You feel a sense of loneliness, but not necessarily emptiness; you're on your own on an alien world and you have to survive. It's a gentleman's handshake rather than a bro's hi-five. Now Halo feels like Surf Ninjas or something. Halo 2 started the trend, 343 is just finishing it. 2 Share this post Link to post
Mr Grim Posted September 1, 2015 H3 made it seem like it was going to be gritty. It was sad but it wasn't gritty. Share this post Link to post
wow Posted September 1, 2015 Any return to the vibe of New Mombosa, New Alexandria, Nightfall, Cortana, or Floodgate is very much welcome with open arms. Those are my favourite levels, a style which bungie excelled at and continue with the aesthetic of Destiny. 343 took that away with halo 4, hopefully it won't continue like that. 1 Share this post Link to post

And because they're brutal and unforgiving, and because they have tense, responsive combat, and because they have wonderful enemy variation, amazing bosses, intricate strategic options . . . sorry, I'm a Souls megafan. You're right, though. For me, the Flood missions in CE were the greatest Halo levels for me, partially because of nostalgia and mostly because of the feeling of being alone and fighting a completely unknown threat that even my enemies are terrified of. More of that semi-horroresqe feeling would always be welcome. 1 Share this post Link to post

PlzLearn Posted September 1, 2015 I was not a fan of the dude bro Spartans and I am glad they are gone, but that trailer in no way represented them in that same light. 2 Share this post Link to post

Shura Posted September 1, 2015 If Halo actually got gritty, I'd be very happy. Well 343's Halo while not being all dark and stuff have a more mature dialogue than any of the bungie games (shame that bad story telling fucked it up) while not perfect I thought it was better than we last had So happy they took that out. Hope halo 6 is dark as hell artistically. THe reason people like games like dark souls and bloodbourne is because theyre so morbid and dark. Reach was pretty mature IMO, nary a joke made in that game, arguably the only lighthearted thing to come from reach was a bird everybody liked killing. 3 Share this post Link to post
Vetoed Posted September 1, 2015 Reach was the best in this regard. I'm sad they didn't follow this route. I dunno, Reach was so washed and gritty, it made me hate the way all the maps looked except Powerhouse. Maybe they all played like shit too, which didn't help. Thinking about it, the Ivory Tower remake looked amazing but was ruined by its maple syrup flooring. Wasn't a big fan of how spartans looked coming from H3 either. Thought the differences made sense lore-wise, but meh. Share this post Link to post
Ravill Posted September 1, 2015 So glad I never prordered halo 5. This is prob the game where I finally give up and move on. 1 Share this post Link to post
