That is what he said. I was just saying I heard they were nerfing her in Hots, but I didn't hear anything about her being nerfed in Overwatch. I hope they don't nerf her.

Junkrat is the perfect counter for Bastion. Bastion can't move and all Junkrat has to do is spam him with rockets from behind geometry. I was doing this earlier today against a team that had two Torbjorns and a Bastion.

I can easily see Bastion's turret ability getting nerfed for launch. That shit is doing stuff better than any Ultra I've used.

Bruh, we were getting slaughtered the entire game and they were about to get to the last checkpoint and I switched to Bastion and we were able to hold them off because I was doing so much damage. I did like 14k damage to the enemy team or something. Definitely needs a nerf.

I genuinely feel like Bastion is the only problem causer at the moment in terms of balance. It's a simple nerf too – either heavily nerf his damage or reduce the magazine size. I feel like the former is the easy fix.

 

Outside of that, I think Zarya and Zenyatta are slightly weak in terms of abilities. Zenyatta's orbs apparently used to permanently stick to their targets regardless of line of sight and would only be removed after Zen died or 30 seconds elapsed (pre-Open Beta). Tying it to line of sight was a bad choice IMO, especially since Zen a super back-line healer. I feel like each orb should just have a static timer tied to it (5-15 seconds) that remains on the target regardless of LOS.

 

Zarya just needs her shields durations buffed. Those things last half a second.

 

Also, Roadhog is godlike in the right hands. Can rip the verticality away from a Pharah, pull a Reinhardt w/ Shield away from his team, or just take out most of the major Assaults

Genji and Junkrat are the two best counters to Bastion

 

Genji can jump in front of Bastion and deflect his shots back at him and kill, and Junkrat can spam him

Played a game of payload where we were escorting.  My whole team picked reinhardt and we all just hid behind each others' shields on the payload.  We got halfway through the route before multiple people on the other team finally picked bastion and the dream died quickly.  Overwatch is so much fun whether I'm taking it seriously or just goofing around.

Genji, Tracer, and Snipers are great counters to Bastions.  Genji makes Bastion literally kill himself, and Tracer, played well, can poke Bastion down and keep him from focusing on his main LoS.

 

As for Torbjorn turrets, the best counter to those is a Widowmaker to keep him constantly having to reposition them...but one thing I like to do is roll Winston, leap onto the turret, drop my shield and leave.

Bastion is definitely a high damage character, but he's by no means OP.  His lack of mobility is a huge trade off for his damage.  He's great on offense in Payload by literally setting up on the payload with a Reinhardt/D.Va guarding him, but all it takes is a Winston leaping onto the car with his Cone fire Lightning gun to dismantle the strategy.  Along with a Junkrat Wheel or a Zarya ulti.

 

Zenyatta's support abilities are kinda meh, but in terms of damage, he's really good.  He's the "I want to carry my team." support.

 

Zarya is the only tank I don't play, and part of it is definitely because of her shield duration, but her ultimate is HUGE in a cap point or hill, or directly on the payload in a clusterfuck situation.  She is a good "second tank" for the team when you already have a Reinhardt/Winston/D.Va primary to soak up the damage.  Zarya is meant to go deal damage with her laser gun, which deals a FUCKTON of damage when you get it charged up.

 

Roadhog is a good damage-dealing tank, but he kinda needs a Lucio or Zenyatta on the team to ensure he can stay topped off.  Unlike Rein and D.Va, he doesn't have armor, so his health is his health, and he'll melt fairly quickly.  As long as he can be kept above 300 health you have plenty of time to react with your E and stay alive.

Bastion isn't even OP, there's characters who are a hard counter to Bastion such as Genji who someone on your team should switch should the bastion player be a huge issue. Genji just needs to flank and when Bastion starts shooting at him you reflect him. I never really had an issue with Bastion, Junkrat is my issue but I don't think thats the games fault there.

I think Torbjorn needs a nerf as well. His turrets are even more OP than Bastion's, IMO. I can deal with a Bastion turret because there is human error involved. You can juke or outsmart a Bastion player, but you can't do that to an AI controlled turret.

 

Here's a list of problems I have with the turrets. Keep in mind this is coming from a Junkrat main.

  • There is ZERO delay on the turret reaction time. If you're in the turret's line of sight, you're dead. If I try to peek shoot the turret, it fires back before I can even realistically get a shot off.
  • The turret can rotate 360 degrees without having proper vision. I was able to sneak behind both Torbjorn and his turret, but the moment I wasn't behind any cover, the turret instantly turned around and shot me, which in turn, gave away my position and got me killed. In my opinion, I should be rewarded for being able to get behind the enemy.
  • Going off of the last point, there is no delay on the rotation either. The turret can turn around very quickly.

I don't believe a straight nerf is the best solution. I think there should be a nice balance to it.  Here's a list of ideas I have to help balance the turrets. I think all of them at once is too much, but hell, even a damage boost or ROF increase could be good enough to compensate.

  • There should be a slight reaction time delay.
  • Turret vision only a cone? This could make the turret placement more important and strategic. If you get behind Torbjorn, you should be rewarded, but he still has an opportunity to fight you off.
  • If not a nerf to turret vision, there should at least be a delay on how fast the turret can turn around.

I'd totally be okay with a damage boost to compensate for this. On certain maps, the Torbjorn/Bastion defensive setup is nearly impossible to get through unless you have a REALLY coordinated team.

This is the main takeaway from all the points being made regarding Torb/Bastion.  Neither are problematic in organized play.  Bastion wasn't used often in the Closed Beta tournaments, except in comps designed around protecting him (Zarya/Rein sitting on him with a Mercy being his dedicated bitch).

 

Torb's turrets are a nuisance, but there are two main ways to deal with them: Shoot them from behind a Winston/Reinhardt Shield, or Snipe them.

It is really weird, I agree. Although many won't agree I found it to be worse than H5. I really struggle with precision weapons. McCree's Pistol feels so hard to aim to me. idk why.

Bro.. if ANYONE defends overwatch's (console) aiming but not H5's, theyre either trolling or love shitting on H5. Trust me.

 

Game is fun as hell though.. cant wait to get a gaming pc, man. Who here is getting it on pc?

btw, if you want any information on damage values / how skills interact / what the difference between Armor/Shields/Lucio Ult/regular health are, someone made a really good Google Doc explaining it all
