Gametype idea: Bomb+KOTH

Recommended Posts

So random idea here that I am pulling out of my ass because I am bored and want to see cursed lemon rant about how stupid the idea is.

Imagine a gametype where both teams spawn with an objective (ball, bomb, we), and there are neutral hills such as in KOTH, but you can only get points in the hill by having the bomb there.

It could either make you hold it there yourself, or you could have it to where as long as the bomb is within the hill, you get points. With the latter the other team would have to be able to pick up your teams ball and throw it out obviously.

Both balls would have to be clearly colored so that you could tell them apart, and you would probably have to remove waypoints over the carrier like in Assault. Hills would rotate just like normal hills.

You could also have it where someone standing in the hill gives you 1 point per second, but the ball carrier gives you 5 per second or something so that you don't need the carrier in order to score. In this case, someone contesting the hill if a ball carrier was in it wouldn't actually block the hill, but rather decrease the ball carrier's score by 1.

Thoughts?

Inb4 lets see how it plays at a highly competitive level before we make judgments, intensive testing on its way..

CTF with neutral bomb. Allow the bomb to be thrown, explodes on contact.

Teams could use it as a "super grenade" to clear bases before entry or to prevent a steal from a distance. Slow respawn on the bomb, maybe 2 or 3 spawn per average CTF round time.

Still plays like CTF but if the bomb hasn't exploded or respawned you need to talk to make sure your team has it - or communicate to make sure the other team doesn't take out all four of you.

If the other team can pick up your ball, you would need waypoints on both objectives to prevent the other team from hiding your ball.

I'd try it.

You can achieve a similar style of gameplay by using the Team Scoring = Maximum setting for King of the Hill in H1 and H2 (not sure if its an option in later games). Your team's score is equal to that of whichever player has the most hill time, essentially making him your designated objective player, kinda like a VIP of sorts that you must escort and protect. In this case, your "maximum" player is your ball carrier, except there is no ball.

Quote of the year.

OT:

It seems like a nice idea! I will see what does Halo 4 brings to the table.

Also, now that we're talking about random ideas... why dont we have neutral/variants of gametypes? (Neutral Flag for example) maybe not for v5 but for matchmaking!

PLAYLISTCTF:

Infinity CTF

CTF Pro

Neutral CTF

1 Flag CTF

Your mom CTF

etc

It would be nice to have those types of gametypes (variants) in the playlists :o

Yeah the One-Flag gametype in CoD Blops 2 is fun and I'd like to see it, though I think you can achieve the same kind of gameplay of a "neutral" flag by using Stockpile as a base.

Here is a random idea.

Both teams have their own ball. You can drop it and all that. It is round-based and on a map that has open ledges you can throw the balls off of. Entire map is covered in an invisible Hill. Pretty much both teams attempt to kill your whole team and then throw your ball off the map. Whoever does it first wins the round. Best of 5.

And then "that guy" breaks the map and throws it in an unreachable place. How would the ball despawn?

Idle for 15 seconds.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. The balls would have to be held every few seconds or they'd spawn off-map and fall so your team loses the round or just respawns normally.

Why not just make it a nuetral ball with a neutral rotating hill?

Im doing something somewhat similar with Assault. I have areas where neutral zones will pop up and people can arm at, but the problem is no one can disarm those bombs right now. Multiple arm sites DO work for neutral sites, but only 1 shows the bounding area. Also, Im trying to get my updated Assault version commented out for a friend so he can implement a Speedbomb option.

Has anyone ever tried making a Halo version of SnD/Demolition? Idk if Assault has ever supported 2 plant areas for the same team.

You can have a 1 life gametype where only one team can Extract, and you have 2 plots. That would be similar to SnD except everybody can arm.

The only issue is that I don't think they can disarm, so in order to make it work you need to assure that planting is hard.

In Halo 3, you can plant on multiple areas, but they took that out with Reach if I remember correct.
