Tactical Package/Support Upgrade/Armor Mods-Halo 5 Idea

Recommended Posts

I'm tired and am just going to get down to the point. What if Tactical Package/Support Upgrade/Armor Mods were to be implemented into Halo 5 in such a way that you had to earn them sort of like personal ordinance; something that actually rewards players for doing good. Let's say you get a killing spree; the game would then reward you with a Dexterity Bonus. Faster reloading, switching weapons, and picking up weapons. It kind of adds something new and fresh to game without breaking it completely. It also doesn't just have to be for kills. Some other examples would be after getting so many kills with a sniper you could get an awareness bonus where you have the radar while you're scoped it, but only for the sniper. You could be a good wheelman and go on a wheelman spree(5 turret kill assist) so the game rewards you with that new armor mod that ejects you from the vehicle when it's about to blow up. All this is, is instead of earning just a medal for doing well you actually earn something to help you in game. It was just a weird idea I had floating in my head. Please discuss! :)

I added this to help you better understand what I'm saying.

10 kills without dying=dexterity bonus(faster reloading/swapping weapons)

5 turret kill assist=survivor bonus(eject from vehicle before its destroyed)

10 sniper kills=awareness(motion tracker visible while scoped)

5 assassinations=stealth(not seen on motion tracker)

10 assist=spotter(waypoint pings above enemies head after you've disabled their shields)

**NOTE** You have to get them all without dying and as soon as you die you lose the bonus and have to start over and they ARE NOT stackable.

Should add the bonuses back to the Spartans themselves, no Armor Mod's, just good old fashion Halo with the Spartan's themselves having each of those bonuses implemented into them already, all except Survivor Armor Mod, that trash has ruined Halo 4 BTB further. I am quite tired of having to rely on Explosives Package and Resupply, if I want to pick up grenades or have grenades that can actually do damage to my opponents.

Armor Mod's are a plague to Halo, and only force us to play with weaker Spartan Character's, and weaker mechanics and weaponry, grenades, unless they are used. They should never of been a part of Halo and were only put in to force Halo to be more COD like, toss them out with the other trash like Flinch, Sprint, they do not belong in our game.

Sounds just like the Specialist strike package from MW3 (which I loved). I think as long as you keep the "perks" tame and ofc have an option to disable it, it would be a solid addition to the game. Not sure if it'd see any use in competition though. The eternal problem with killstreaks in competition is it inevitably makes the gameplay uneven. Now obviously powerups and power weapons already do this, but when someone has one of those, you pretty much know because you lost the battle for it on the map. It was earned in a direct and intuitive way. For killstreak-based powers, it seems very unintuitive and random. If you force someone to reload and chase them around the corner only to find out they had Dexterity and were able to reload in time, you'd feel pretty cheated because it would have been extremely difficult for you to keep track of which players are on killstreaks and impossible to know he selected Dexterity as one of his streak's perks (assuming players were able to customize it). This wasn't a huge deal in MW3 because even if someone is abusing combinations of Stalker ADS, SoH reloads, and every other perk, you can still easily take them out in a fraction of a second. Perks that affect actual engagements like Explosion or Dexterity (quicker beatdowns) are much more difficult for "normal" players to defeat h2h, and even perks that aren't used in your usual CoD engagement are used all the time mid-firefight in Halo (reloading, nading, and meleeing being the big ones off the top of my head). It's kind of comparable to Danger Close or Commando Pro, two of the most hated perks in CoD history.

Looks to much like kill streaks that would encourage camping. I wouldn't mind if it worked with the same way ordinance worked(in that gameplay objectives help as much as kills), but instead of choosing gun you get to activate one of the modification you mentioned.

I would rather not have it in the game, but your defiantly right, much better way to implement it in the game than to have load outs.

and

Let's stray further away from the core...

This is going back to the core slightly by lessening the effect of these modifications that are currently in place

I don't understand why we need to further reward players who are doing good. They already have a reward; points on the board for slayer, or less players to contest power weapons/objectives. Any artificial way to give them an advantage is just cheap and gimmicky, it's like saying AR starts are good because good players can control BR's and spawnkill everyone...

I feel like this would create a campy atmosphere like it is within CoD. People are so scared to move in CoD, makes for boring gameplay especially in pubs. Having things on map to fight over creates movement, makes plays happen. I've always played Halo for this reason. You want some perks, fight me for em Arena style:) Specially that assassination one you mentioned, omg the corner crouching would be all too real in H5 if that came to be:P

Also strays from "the core" or "formula" as Gandhi said. There's better ways to evolve the game IMO.

No. I do not want to see any stuff like this just more CoD stuff going into Halo. I'm not being close minded, but this kind of stuff does not work in Halo. Halo is it's own game, it needs to stay true to what Halo does best and that's be Halo. As i said in the thread i made, if you're gonna take ideas from CoD, look at there match making formula not the game play.

Never said power-ups/power weapons would be gone and if you rely on radar that much than idk what to say. I wish people would actually discuss it to see how it could actually work rather than shoot it down. That's why I never post on the forums. "If it wasn't in H1-3, we don't want it."

Personal Ordnances are the same thing as Care Packages. If you want something similar to PO's then you basically want something similar to CP's which are from COD.

It's not at all like that though. You don't call in some package or something. It's just automatically given to you when you reach whatever you have to do to get them. You don't pick like 3 that you want and you have to earn X amount of kills to get it. It's set in the game and you earn them from not just kills, but just about anything. Like I said they're not stackable which makes it not OP. To balance it out you could make it a times bonus, 15-30 seconds. It obviously would have the option to turn off completely. Also, side note, I got the idea from Happy Wars/Someone's YT username.

Ok, my bad then. However, I still don't think it would be a great idea for Halo to keep changing the game so much. There is a reason why COD is so successful and it comes out every year.

CoD is successful because it launches every year. lol The game would not last 3 years like Halo did. If the game is good then people will play it. This was just an alternative to personal ordinance and loadouts because I don't want either to return in H5 although I know they will most likely.

If Halo 4 came out the year after Reach it would still fail like it did today. COD is successful because the mechanics are the same as it were 4 years ago. COD would still avg 100,000-300,000 if it came out every 3 years. It's only competition on the XBOX is Halo (4v4.
