My opinion when it comes to discussions is if you don't want to talk about it, don't.

Let's just start up a Beyond debate team

No one you're probably talking about would be in it since they're labeled as THC kids

Speaking of THC the 2 year anniversary coming up I think.

We should all go there and post Happy anniversary.

Shit, you're right. I remember when I came back in December from CoD for ZBNS I heard about THC right after it was created, needless to say the rest is history.

Back in the day with Gandhi and Dmaq ranting about how H4 needs to fix everything, and the hype, and how everything went downhill from there. Damn.

So one of Texas top players for SF4 was at the locals I go to.  I wanted to play him since I wanted to learn something about how to beat Akuma and how to play him well, but EVERYONE wanted to do the same thing so I would barely have time to go against him, so I had to do something different.

So I took a page from Korean DJ in the Smash Documentary and money matched him. Constantly.  Kept asking for $5 money matches and I lost about $25 but never have I learned so much in one sitting than that.  It eventually came to the point where I could get out of his vortex and do some damage to him by the last two matches

All I want is for discussion to fall into one of the top 3 categories. I don't care if you throw elements of later categories in as long as the overall theme of a post follows one of the top 3.

I would rather someone refute or counterargue a post of mine, and then call me a dumbass queer, than have someone respond in a way where their post is responding to tone, ad hominem, or name calling.

Do you ever just post to enjoy conversations about Halo or just want everything to become a debate?

That's wasn't an attack, I was legitimately asking.

I wouldn't call it an attack either, but you were refering to my characteristics rather than the substance so I felt it fit. Also, I liked the irony that my post was applicable so soon. Plus ad hominem doesn't have to be an "attack." It just says attack in the pyramid.

Def:

Appealing to personal considerations rather than to logic or reason: Debaters should avoid ad hominem arguments that question their opponents' motives.

So no. I like talking about Halo without things having to be a debate. I posted that because there was a debate. There have been many in the last few pages (just go look if you don't believe me). The link I posted proves that I don't make a debate about everything.

The XBC thread link was an example that I don't make a debate out of everything. One that was on the front page in one of the top slots and contains one of my most recent posts.

I just think that picture is just really telling of what you want to make everything out to be. Me personally, I come on the forums to enjoy conversations about the Halo series and to discuss sports in OT. It's kinda ironic, this conversation is even turning into a debate even though I'm just asking a simple question.

I go on a discussion board to discuss. The topic determines whether that is a debate style discussion or not.

I do not make a debate out of everything. I provided an example. Here is another: http://teambeyond.net/forum/index.php?/topic/2048-ive-had-time-to-think/

Do you need more examples?

I like debating, but it is far from the point where I turn everything into a debate. In fact, 99% of the debates I get into were started before I even made a post.

http://teambeyond.net/forum/index.php?/topic/3478-the-death-of-forge-world/

That is three examples from the front page. In fact, of all the threads on the front page that had debate style discussions, I don't see a single one that was started by me. I don't see any on the previous page either.

Lets look at the most recent topics I have started:

XBC thread- Not debate oriented

Do you believe the EMP should stay or go on Vertigo?- Debate oriented (though I did not participate)

Which starting weapon is Best for Competitive Halo? Debate oriented

Gametype idea: Bomb+KOTH Discussion oriented

http://teambeyond.net/forum/index.php?/topic/3038-gametype-idea-bombkoth/&do=findComment&comment=78456

So only 2 of the last 5 threads I have made have been debate oriented. One of which I did not participate in. That means my record for topics is 20% trying to debate with people. That is a far cry from "just wanting everything to become a debate." Do you have any actual evidence that I just like to make a debate about everything or are these actual examples enough to quell you "question"?

Another thing. You pointed out that it was ironic that your question was turning into a debate. The first response I made I very clearly provided an example that was supposed to answer your question. Had you not responded and had taken this answer for what it was worth, it would have ended there and no "debate" would have arisen. You pushed my answer into a "debate" if that is what you want to call this, or at the very least did nothing to avoid it.

I really have no interest in debating this at all, because it isn't a debate about anything except me defending myself, which should be completely unnecessary according to the principals and rules of this forum. So to answer your original question in a much simpler way: No.

Does that suit you better?

Are you honestly trying to debate whether or not you constantly debate other topics?

Just try taking a step back for a second. You're always talking about "objective" viewpoints. Well, try taking your own advice for once. You're literally arguing about how much you debate, while including statistics about your thread count. Yet, you exclude every personal post other than a OP for a thread?

You know that you debate everything, and now you're just living up to what BriteeyeZ said earlier in this thread. Lastly, you know that we're cool with each other, but at this point, someone needed to step in to tell you to stop kidding yourself my man. Your handle is menotyou, and on these forums, that name is synonymous with debate.
