I think you're asking the wrong question. It should be "What did Halo 4 not do wrong?". I honestly played this at my friends house where we had some setups, got to playing and stuff for around 10ish hours over the last couple days to see the game again. I honestly, never even finished the campaign. I have always been disinterested in single player, so that's preference. 

 

However, 343 is making it a point to "fix" what they did wrong, and I think that speaks more volumes than the things that make Halo 4 appealing, but if those were appealing to begin with the game would be up there, more played, and not have as many changes. I played the post-"balance" and I must say the DMR got nerfed into oblivion lmao, and the BR was buffed to OP-level status. Those weapons literally changed places and the Carbine and LR got a bit better. Forge is worse, theatre is worse, the campaign looks pretty, the graphics are up in the air, I personally think that the game looks fucking great for being on a console that came out in 2005.

The fast pace of the game is the biggest plus for me and 4sk BR <3

 

Also it moves better than Reach which had horrible heavy/clunky movement for a Halo game.

Honestly more than half of these comments are still continuing the complaints about halo 4 stuff- which is entirely not the purpose of this thread to discuss.

 

As for the halo 4 sounds- I can understand that this is a hit or a miss thing for people.  Very much subjective.  

 

It's better though to have a comparison video where they are presented side by side.

 

 

To me, it just feels as if the halo reach weapons are faded in comparison.

I agree man, the base movement in halo 4 is godly if you remove sprint.  (although strafing is still too slow.)

Prior to launch there was a multi-day livestream hosted by Machinima. They played multiplayer for 24 hours a day basically. Descope and sprint were not secrets.

Had no Idea about this, only knew about the MLG Dallas event, which I actually didn't have time to watch. I knew there was no descoping earlier on at E3 2012, but heard that it was supposedly a bug

I thought the campaign was one of the worst of the series. It was short and easy at the hardest difficulty. surprised so many people liked it...

 

They got hit scan right

Playlist updates are far more frequent than past titles

Weapon/armor skins and stances are pretty cool I guess

 

That's all I can really think of for now

The graphics tho nice and high quality still bug me. There is just too much clutter or texture elements to the maps that cause issues when trying to distinguish players from map, being color blind is hard enough. 

Other than the graphics I would say the campaign was ok and the CG shorts for Spartan ops were fantastic (still enjoyed the gameplay from firefight more than spartan op). Also extraction is a decent game-type but other than those things I could care less about unlockables and armors as I have been wearing Mark IV since h2. For the argument on the weapons, I liked the classic sounds A LOT more, the ones in this game sound awful.   

Edit: Not sure if there is Hitscan but magnetism and Hit-boxes need work.

-Sticky Detonator was a cool weapon

-Railgun was a cool weapon

-Bi Ri was a cool weapon (even if it is OP as shit)

-Saw is a cool weapon

-Damage boost is a cool powerup

-Thruster pack is a better version of evade

-Hardlight shield is better than Armor Lock

-Jetpack was nerfed from reach

-Light rifle is a cool weapon

-Sprint was nerfed from Halo reach levels

-The BR made a return

-DMR now is ZB by default

-Sniper lost some of it's auto aim from reach levels (though flinch makes sniping still easy)

-Took out no-bleed (for the most part)

-Grenades bounce right again

-Grenades aren't nukes that explode super quick

-Extraction is pretty chill

-Forge got cleaner textures, and lost the on object lights, making forge not lag as much

-3 (now 4) different forge maps with individual looks.

-CSR (even if it is pretty shitty)

-Improved (though still crappy) spawn system

This is bullcrap! SERIOUSLY! 90% OF THIS FORUM OVERREACTS AT HALO 4!
Maybe is not the best Halo, but it has a lot of plus and people here over-FREAKING-reacts like:

"Aww... No Spectator Mode"
"Awww... customization sucks"
"Awww... Sprint and Descope, even tho it was shown like 312098312079 times"
"Awww... weapons sounds suck"
"Awwww hitscans are overated"
"Aw.... Graphics"

Halo 4 was awarded by the best graphics on Xbox Live 2012.
Weapons were made from zero! I prefer it like that rather than a copy paste such as CoD. It keeps its originality and I like it. 
Sprint, No-Descope and Ordnances were shown MONTHS before release. Even No-Descope was obvious when Bestman tested the sniper the first time.
Hitscans the best imo.
Customization sucks? MORE OPTIONS FOR CUSTOM GAMES, MORE OPTIONS FOR CUSTOM SPARTANS, MORE OPTIONS FOR CUSTOM MAPS. AND IT AIN'T ENOUGH?
Oh... so No-Spectator mode makes Halo 4 a non-eSport title? No Spectator mode is automatically a dumb game that shouldn't be bothered be played on competitive settings? Right....

Halo 4 is not perfect and is not the best Halo, but is a good game for a first try and is a decent playable game. I'm fucking sorry, but I won't go back to Reach. I prefer 100 times H4 than Reach,
and NO... (v6/v7 Reach) doesn't make the entire Halo: Reach better than H4. Competitively better? Possibly. But in the other hand is so unbalanced, so random, and so annoying when specially the game wasn't playable AFTER A YEAR.

Anniversary Classic makes Reach a better game than Halo 4. (and v7, Firefight, UI, Theater in Campaign, Scoring in Campaign and FF, Music)

 

As to your dates - remind me, how long did we have to wait for descope to be added back into Reach? If it's less than forever I think we have a winner.
