This is a better halo game than the last 3 halo games.

I 100% agree.

I still would not want sprint etc, but it is better than all of 343 Halo games. I discovered it randomly today, and Have had a 4-5 hours of fun :)

This is fun. The 3v3 modes are hectic and tense.

Splitgate is a blast. No clamber really does make a big difference. It's really missing grenades, just imo.

Lawbreakers could have been big too if it was released at a different time.

It's wild what gets big on Twitch, etc. all of the sudden sometimes though.

I genuinely did not realise how much clamber affects jumps until I played this.

Not sure why this duplicate thread was made, but please take all Splitgate discussion to this thread:

@Shekkles can we please delete this thread and point people to the above link? Thanks.

I love that the starting weapon for both Casual and Ranked is a three shot weapon.  But getting three shot kill is hard.  And the aiming on PC is good.  Really good.

In casual and comp Many use the easier secondary the carbine needs a ROF buff

Overall the game is really fun. Some of the maps are impressive, others are pretty generic. The game has definitely improved since it came out and I'm curious what they're going to do next.

A few thoughts for future changes:

  • AR melts too much right now, there's really not much reason to use the carbine unless you're an aiming god
  • Why are there no grenades? Not saying they need to be added, but I don't get why they're not present at all
  • Powerups? Could be worth implementing
  • Dynamic timers on weapons are a yikes from me, at least the rockets, rail and BFB should be static
  • The game could use something like the GL and a sentinel beam type weapon.

About the grenades.. I was thinking the same as you, but after playing it for 15 hours I am not sure they would go well with the portals. Possibly. You are basically your own grenade.. You make someone 1-short and then portal behind them.. And then after that you portal across to the other side of the map to look for people, and if they are not there, you portal back, and then you portal somewhere else!!

Literally, in this one square map, that's is all I do. Portal around and around using the corners.

Medium range the Carbine is GOD

I played against some kids who won 5 rounds in a row then lost 5 rounds in a row then they won the 6th round and they were screaming into their mics about how we ("we" being my team, I was playing solo) were the worst players in the world and that it was embarrassing that they even had to play against us and that we were wasting their time and that we should kill ourselves.

And I just let out a good hearty chuckle because it was so extreme and stereotypical that it just made me laugh. I said good game guys that was close and when they went into another bout of insults I just chuckled again and one of them just paused and said "yeah it was a pretty good game ay".

I tell you what I don't miss being 15 though.

Lets make a video about whether Splitgate will "takedown" Halo in eSports.

Let Max go first.

Yeah, I see your point. They're not really needed to flush campers like in Halo, but still a huge part of Halo's skill gap comes from smart grenade use and to just completely omit that in a game that borrow so much from Halo is ... odd.

It is, but only at a very niche distance. Out to surprising distances the AR is king and past mid-long range it's usually not worth engaging due to high escapability in the game (unless you have a sniper lol.) I just wish the AR had either 1) more bloom or recoil 2) no zoom, 3) a bit less headshot damage multiplier, or a combination of the three. It feels like they're almost there, but not quite.

Played this game all day. This shit feels way better to play than that Halo Infinite flight. Not a perfect game but it's definitely fun to play. Infinite feels so much clunkier than this game.

Things I would maybe change though

-nerfs autos a bit

-make bodyshots do less damage so that you are rewarded more for headshots. the carbine would still be a 3sk if you get the final headshot.

-maaaaybe add nades but lowkey having fun without them lol, just feels kinda weird not having them I guess. But I can live without it.

overall tho Splitgate > Halo Infinite flight

I am setting up a standing monitor stand (bought some parts, and will be making others) for my living room, so that It's easier for me to play competitively on my Xbox. Then I can pull it out when needed.  If you want to play a bit of split gate on the xbox after that we can :)

I won't play competitively on my xbox until I have a monitor stand and monitor in place, but I can play on the PC with a controller :) Even though I am mostly winning in Splitgate on Steam it feels demotivating just knowing I am on unbalanced ground. That is why I am setting up this stuff.

Fantastic video. The more I play the game the more I realise that I won't be playing it in a months time. The game is at it's best when the portals are not in use and is at it's worst when the game devolves into cat-and-mouse with little skill involved. His point about Risk Assessment vs Risk prediction is spot on.
