Exactly. Also why OGRE2 didn't dominate or necessarily do "well" in CoD when he transferred over. It has its own skill just like any other modern esport.

Also missed y'all <3

Totally. I had a whole new level of respect for COD ever since Black Ops 2. The game has its own in-depth strategies that people write off due to "LOL COD" or just the quick kill times. I love watching high level cod.

Didn't his team with snip3down, royal 2, and like mikwen or someone still do well enough to get to the NA 16 team qualifier for CoD Champs? That's pretty good for the short amount of time they played.

Edit: I do remember now that snakebite was on the team. Not sure on everyone else, pretty sure on snipedown.

Yes they made it to the qualifier.

The team was 2gre, Snip3down, Snakebite, and Royal 2 originally, but Ace replaced Royal 2 for the qualifier because Royal 2 left.  They did poorly and then quit after regionals.

Could the order of signing up for beyond tournaments be changed a bit to require a full roster before being eligible to sign up for the event/get a spot in the bracket? Maybe people are just dumb/don't read/sign up spur of the moment without a team but it seems like an easy problem to fix from the outside. Not sure how the website works on the back end though. Basically just make creating a full team the first step

Ya I remember them losing pretty handily at the qualifier. But that's still pretty decent to make it to that LAN qualifier considering how little time they had all been playing and the number of teams that tried to get there. So yes, they didn't make waves, but they didn't get double first rounded at a 256 team open tourney(looking at you splyce).

It isnt rocket science, but not an easy fix by any means. We have some things on the way that will directly combat this issue.

As someone who covers rosters and brackets for each tournament, this is more of a Halo issue. Even with filled teams, we got DM's mid-tourney saying teams couldn't play or forgot they entered. This is even after reaching out on the Website, Discord, Twitter, etc.

As @@Joseph said, we do have things in the work to hopefully deal with the issue - but regardless the core issue is still people doing their part to fill their roster and actually show up.

this is a bit misleading, they made it to the qualifier by grinding 16 hours a day, basically there was an online ladder and (generally speaking) the teams that played more games ended up higher on the ladder, it was just down to how much of your life you were willing to give up.  I remember watching Ogre2's stream at the time and they were all miserable for the entire ladder season, then got obliterated on LAN.

I do wonder, though, if top Halo pros spent years and years playing the game, they really might do pretty well (only Enable / Formal did well enough immediately to bother continuing).

Go big time and require phone numbers to enter. Then give them a text day before and day of thats automated. Or something similar. I agree that its stupid to have to come to that. But im just pointing out that could help.

A lot of times players don't even enter their gamertag setup or updated correctly for these Halo tournament, can't imagine getting their numbers would be any easier. I love Halo tournaments as much as the next guy, but try and meet us halfway here. Rocket League and Call of Duty do not have these kind of issues, even as newer communities for us.

Just looked it up, we ran 22 Halo events in 2018 :D

If teams sign up for a tournament and end up being a no show (Unless they give you a valid excuse) , then they should be banned from signing up for the following tournament. Its unfair that these tournaments are full but on the day of the tourney when others would like to play there are people getting into top 3 playing 1 game.

You can also add a waitlist type of deal where if teams dont reply or confirm ( by morning of the tournament) then the next team on the waitlist gets there spot.

In that case we’d end up banning a lot of people who may actually participate in the future, or even just someone who couldn’t find a full squad in time. We want to stay away from banning people, but rest assured we have methods in the works to take care of the issue.

Halo 5 and 4 still takes more brains than MW1, blops2, or blops 4 put together

I'm guessing you didn't watch a lot of BO2 or CoD4, did you?

This game looks a lot like titanfall 2. The movement, the shooting, it's clear

Just took a look at some Blops 4 footage from Vegas, and pretty much the only things that are similar is the shooting, & you being able to slide in blops 4(plus weapon bobbing when running). To say blops 4 movement is anything similar to TF2 is doing a massive disservice to TF2.

The thing that puts me off BO4 is the specialists. I've played a lot of CoD over the years, even somewhat competitively. CoD2 all the way through Black Ops 2. I remember when scorestreaks were added I thought it was going to be terrible for competitive gameplay, and while I do still feel that way, the community embraced them, so it's whatever. Specialists however, I just can't get behind. There is nothing at all balanced about shock drones, one shot kill pistols, see through walls vision, (promethean vision) war dogs with a ton of health, essentially insta kill flamethrowers, and tempest, etc. It's just pure cheese for the sake of muddling the waters in regards to the skillgap.

I don't even know why they're in the game at all to be honest, as I feel like the game would have been better received without them. The competitive scene especially. Back in the day the competitive community, MLG, and Gamebattles were what defined the competitive ruleset and MLG variant settings. I feel like now, with Activision in complete control, the only thing saving the game from being just as random as pubs is gentlemen's agreements. I have no inherent problem with CoD, I used to play it all the time, I just can't find a way to enjoy the game with specialists. It's like they really want CoD to be a class based hero shooter, but it just isn't. Here's hoping the rumors are true and next year will be MW4 with the old IW team  back. That's a game I could get on board with.

Halo 3 at least brings in high tier intellectuals

Anyone that defends the h3 BR for an esports FPS (or the game's sluggish movement, long power item timers, linear maps, etc... ) is the opposite of a 'high tier intellectual.'

Those folks fall into the 'bottom feeder' category.

Does anyone know if the points from the ugc online qualifiers are tied to teams or individual players? So if a player changed teams would they lose their points or would they carry over to their new roster?

Individual players.  Even Flamesword said his team (that won the qualifier) is probably going to change before the event.
