1. The moderating needs to be way more strict. Any comments that are hateful in any way need to be timed out.

2. More mods, who are respected members of the community. Some of the AGL mods are known trolls on Twitch.

3. Facebook connect and/or Subscribers only mode needs to be used. Contrary to popular belief, subs only mode rarely makes people stop watching the stream.

1. Yes

2. Yes, Especially MFaith, bad mod.

3. Well I would stop watching if it becomes sub only. Hate this method of MLG, I will never sub to a stream that only streams monthly.

To the video, sorry Saucey but I think you wasted your breath, everyone knows this, it isnt our community only and it isn't only twitch chat. You just gave this more attention that it deserves.

I see year long community persons and pro players still not being able to ignore trolls, it is awkward as fuck.

LOL! at you guys expecting a bunch of 16 year old prepubescent boys  to act mature...

Why would they change the way they act when anonymity behind a computer screen will always protect them. There will always be trolls, e-thugs. etc.

Stop making videos/talking about it (i.e. feeding the trolls) and just ignore them. You're never going to change how these kids act, especially when they idolize a bunch of immature 'Pro Players' anyways.

Funny stuff...

I don't know if you guys watch any streams besides Halo ones, but this is how it is in ANY popular stream that has chat enabled. That's just how it is.

The behavior of the online Halo community has been a parody of itself for a long time, but I think a lot of people in the community now don't realize it's a parody, and that results in them actually being douchebags.  Just think about how you talk to your friends (real or just online) when you play against them.  If you get a sweet kill on them you might yell out "GET RAPED, ******", and then everyone has a good laugh.  There are some people who overhear that and honestly don't understand the "joke" there, but rather think that it's funny because you're being intentionally offensive.  These people are called idiots, and they're everywhere.

Now take those people and put them in a Twitch chat where the only way to get attention is to be more ridiculous than the other thousand people chatting.  It degrades into complete nonsense almost immediately.

The thing that annoyed me most was the CoD bashing.  AGL was getting some pretty good viewers and some CoD folks were checking it out, a flamewar just erupted.  I think the Halo fans started it, but naturally some CoD people retaliated.  It is extremely frustrating how self-destructive some can be in the community.

Other bad parts are some of those pictures people make with texts.  All this pornographic stuff was being spammed and nobody bans them.  Mods really could do a lot to help this stuff.  I think they are the ones we should really be frustrated with.

I do get annoyed at some of the hate people were saying about players too.  Goofy, Lethul, Ninja, and Best Man have some worthless haters.  And finally the addy.  I get the impression that people just want the players to be on it.  They accuse every player of abusing it every time it seems.    It irks me.

We get on the community and twitch chats being awful when the pro players are screaming at the top of their lungs "GET FUCKING RAPED!"

These guys trash talk like the twelve year olds on Xbox live.

That`s the general rule, but thats because the most popular streams are for competitive games, mobas - shooters. People are generally a-holes when it comes to competitive games. Any Nintendo let`s plays (zelda), or chill games like Mirror Edge speedruns - these streams are always laidback even with thousands of viewers

1. I try to enforce this as much as I can unfortunately I cannot be watching all the time - other mods don't seem to know how to mod. (With a few exceptions)

2. Less mods, better mods.

3. Facebook connect as a requirement would be ok.

poor excuse, Im not saying we should get rid of trash talk but yelling get raped crosses a line. I know trash talk is fierce but really? telling your opponent to get raped is pathetic and i refuse to accept that its just "part of the game"

Trash talk is fine. But when it crosses the line into "ima rape ur mum" kinda stuff. Then it's to far and in any other sport you'd draw a penalty for it.

"GET RAPED"

"YOU FUCKIN SUCK"

"IDIOTTTTTTT"

Didn't they used to issue warnings and DQ's to teams for shit like this in the first few AGLs?

This is an issue that has grown from the inception of competitive gaming.

Sadly, the goal of dumbing down Halo and catering to a younger and more impressionable audience has worked.

Couple that with the the lack of maturity and glorification of certain players - and you have a recipe for hatred.

In regards to the religious topic - not something that will change, ever.  In fact it will only get worse.

Our country in general is increasingly more and more anti God.

Its sad, but nothing that can be done.

Personally, I would rather focus on getting a Halo game that does not suck, enjoy playing it and growing the community.

I recall a few ago, you could use mild language, but words like "fuck" got you a point. Once you got 3 points I think you forfeit the game? or just got penalized in some way. The issue was everyone suddenly became deaf to it during the finals and everyone would start yelling fuck like their lives depended on it.

Pretty much nailed it.

I'd also venture to say that it probably doesn't help that one of the top pros on the now second place team prides himself on how much of a troll he is. Just my two cents though. Imitation is the finest form of flattery, after all.

And that just goes to show how professional our pros really are... That sort of conduct, coupled with the obscene trash talking, is completely unacceptable. I understand how it occurs in other sports, but you've gotta understand that in other sports you don't hear it being shouted across a room. Hell, back when I played Ice Hockey it was hard to even hear what the other player was saying. One my team mates even got kicked out of the league for trash talking...

News flast, the Halo community is that bad. The Halo community is the red-headed step child with down syndrome and anger management issues of online gaming. In a sense, it is the epitome of spoiled instant gratification demanding children... And that makes sense considering Halo's previous place as the King of online gaming. We're a virolent, hate filled community... You don't even need to go to twitch tv to see that either, it's apparent just from the conduct of individuals on the forums as well.

Thanks for quoting this Warfare. I'm trying to wrap my head around why my posts tend to get deleted, especially one's that seem to collect positive rep...

Maybe it's just me but I don't see how this is a big deal like some make it out to be. Sure some people go overboard and post some really rude shit along with spam and porn but these things are not exclusive to the Halo community. As far as the chat attacking COD fans, it was pretty even back and forth, I don't think they were solely victims but we should all just get along :). I personally think this issue is a bit overblown, twitch messing up the mods didn't exactly help either.

You'd have to put down your controller for a certain amount of time.

I never needed to yell profanities in sports to trash talk, maybe its just easy in Hockey but a simple get dangled usually works pretty solid.

You're right, the difference is in the audience being able to go to "listen-ins". In actuality, trash talking is way worse in basketball and other sports, and I'm talking professional. Michael Jordan was the king of trash talking and he was the most beloved player in basketball. Racial slurs and the like are all fair game. Kevin Garnett last year called a bald guy a cancer patient. Talks of fucking each others moms/girfriends/both at the same time. It's probably way worse than eSports since we can't hear most of it. But from player testimonials, in basketball and in football, it's vicious and mostly personal stuff. And those people are grown men. So unless we get rid of listen-ins(nooooooo) or they actually enforce the penalties, I'm not sure what the solution would be.
