OH BURN.

If we went to 343i for a day, we'd see JUST how dysfunctional and shitty it is! THEN, we'd think "WOW, I'm just happy this game is even a 4/10!!!!"

Dang, Gears esports not messing around. Safe to say their code of conduct is not "a living document". https://gearsofwar.com/en-us/gpc-s1-code-of-conduct

I hope it is so if someone finds a way to exploit a loophole they can close it quickly.

I know the "living document" thing is a meme at this point mostly because of how the rules that were already written were not enforced properly, but that concept is used allllllll the time. its not new or strange.  The "living document" think isn't an issue, its ESLs inability to recognize a problem in a timely manner and put their foot down.

Not what was being referred to at all. Game development isn't easy.

Genuinely curious: what would be a proper successor, in your opinion?

Upgraded Halo 3 artstyle. More shine, same feel, feels gud mayne.

A mix of the best parts of Halo CE-3, and that is a REALLY REALLY long list of GOOD that you could cram in one game.

More/new gametypes. Seriously. We could have everything. I miss extraction which was one of the only blessings in H4 and it would be a nice audition to the classic Halo style.

Halo's classic sound and audio. Or at least something of more resemblance (gun sounds, shield regeneration, multikill calls, ect)

More classic Halo maps that have that Halo magic. There is no Chillout, lockout, or guardian type maps in Halo 5........you need at least ONE map like that and even the truth feels nothing like Halo.

No sprint, but better movement mechanics. Need I even get into this?

I could go on forever. Halo is a magical game where all the elements come together and is a very unique experience that warms the soul.

New Halo's LACK that feeling. That spark. That magic. That chutzpah

I think everyone realizes this.

Thank you for answering. I've seen a lot of people put out the "make a true successor to Halo 3", but rarely have any idea of what that would look like (short of a rehash/refinement of Halo 3's gameplay).

So, correct me if I misunderstand, but it sound like, gameplay wise, at least, you'd want something similar to Halo 5, minus sprint (and maybe a couple other of the less favorable Spartan Abilities)?

It's not. But acting like you're high and mighty, that everyone would be "more understanding" of the glaring issues in the products you make is a joke. I took a coding class where we had to make an FPS in three weeks. It was hard as hell, but it doesn't matter how hard it was, it's on you if you can't do your job.

1. He wasn't acting high and mighty at all.

2. I fail to see how. Seeing behind the scene was a huge reason people liked Bungie back in their Halo days (at least from what I saw). Seeing behind the scenes would give people a better understanding of what goes into the game, the people behind it, and allow fans to provide better and more constructive criticism when they have complaints.

And I'd argue they have done their jobs. Unless you can think of a more qualified dev to take over Halo?

No doubt. Acknowledging, even indirectly, 343's clear dysfunction would require self-awareness that pretty much no one at that company has ever demonstrated. And yeah, game development is hard. I suspect that 343 would get more sympathy on that front if they were the slightest bit transparent with their community, stopped releasing broken products (then pretending they don't exist), and stopped trying to "innovate" the series into the ground by copy-pasting mechanics from other games. But, hey, I could be wrong. I can't wait for Halo 6 to be a totally innovative hero shooter and sell even worse than Halo 5 did.

Instead of taking the route of interacting with the community here and clearing it up, I guess I'll post what was just tweeted to me after my post lol

this comes off as cowardly to me. defend what you said if you believe it and maybe get to know the people you're griping about while letting us get to know you

Tom French is the head of multiplayer for Halo 6. I have some hope the game will be good.

Hell no, because Halo 5 lacks that feeling. Guns have too much magnetism, maps have no creativity, unless you read the box the artsyle is nothing like Halo, character models in h5 are OKAY but the slimmer, simple, smaller hitbox Spartans of Halo 3 are PERFECT in my honest opinion, I think they nailed models and hotboxes in that game perfect.

The art design, the way you interact with the map, the sounds, the gun mechanics, combat dynamics, grenade mechanics (for example chucking a sticky 500 yards across valhalla and sticking somebody) a learning curve that is satisfying, how you move, knowing how to bank a nade, ect, ect, ect.

I'm just too lazy to go into great detail. But I think the best way to put it in TLDR,

When you booted up Halo CE-3......you got that feeling and you all know what I mean

Saying the community wouldn't be as harsh is playing the, "Oh my job is so hard be nicer" to me card. Which is acting like your higher than others because they can't understand how hard it is, and if they could they'd be way nicer when in actuality it should be the opposite. If a job is too hard for someone, you find someone better.

Response to bold: I can think of several devs that have released less broken games. But as far as I'm concerned none of them want to make a traditional Halo game, such as 343 doesn't want to make a traditional game, AND they release broken/incomplete games.

If I had to make a list:

Respawn

ID

The Coalition

(There are more but the names escape me right now)

I hate how Icy,the one who got punched and lost a damn tooth,is being punished also. Ban Godplays from gears, make him pay a fine towards Icy.

if their job was to just push out a crappy, incomplete product then yes. mcc was a broken mess and it took almost a year and a half to fix the aiming in a first person shooter. congrats! have some balloons

give halo to any fps dev right now. i'd love to see respawn have a go. the people on that team have a solid history of good games and probably a much better understanding of what made halo so good in the first place

With the recent new pickups an 8 team pro league makes absolutely no sense at all. Pro league roster spots are starting to be filled by players that aren't even on top teams. That's evidence of the huge number of ridiculously skilled players in Halo 5 which imo argues for a larger league.

i think if you assault someone at a tournament you should be banned for life

that shit is unacceptable and not normal behavior

mean words are different matter

Technically the fight didn't happen at the event venue. It happened at a casino the night before the event.
