I think the contract w/ ESL is up at the end of this year.

Where'd you get that idea from? Not criticizing, I'm legitimately curious because I've never seen anything about that.

here's the Gears of War Atlantic City main stage btw

[Pictures]

north east, beach (its april 1st but still), casinos, rides, the entire boardwalk, soon there is going to be a massive indoor water park, inexpensive

atlantic city has a lot of potential as an esport location, it's already been in the local newspaper multiple times

ac used to host mike tyson fights and in the 90's-early 200's was one of the largest entertainment capitals of the world, this city is desperate for any sort of way to draw young people to AC

I'm still amazed that ESL had "conversations"about better venues... But they didn't pan out. Yet Gears can pull this shit.

The Twitter numbers, no matter if you believe them legit or not, probably made ESL/343 some decent scratch in Ad $ from this production... and they couldnt rent out a fucking convention hall?

Apg without heinz? no bueno. APG is really good but him and heinz work well together

I just want to see Heinz team with Ola again, even if its not gonna happen any time soon

maybe throw in Rayne and find a SK lookalike and they can just form a knockoff TD  :kappa:

I've asked @@Frankie and @@Timo for the last few days about refunds and I've heard nothing. Someone suggested chargebacks a few days, I'm not a fan of that but if nothing is said I don't blame you. We're sorry isn't cutting it in this case.

Come. It's a big thing for the city, I think it'll be great venue and a great event. Gears players are known for their trash talk and passion. Plus, Moses, Sandman, Teapot, and I will be there, amongst others I think.

u forgot me :D

To be honest, I wouldn't put it past 343 to blindly sign with ESL again without considering any other options, i.e. noticing the  "hire MLG" that's cropping up all over the place.

I have been asking @@Tashi if anyone is updating the Worlds excel sheet to include match scores. I've got zero replies so far.

At this point I would rather for him to say "No its not going to happen" than nothing at all.

It would be nice to see them offer a discount on future tickets or something. But offering a refund would be an admittance from them that the event was bad; can't imagine them doing it.

They at very least could of offered their seats inside the event to the spectators stuck in the tent. Garner some form of small goodwill, and make a dozen or so fans weekend great. Then enjoy the event on the bleachers with the rest of the spectators. Hell it would of probably made those spectators weekend better too.

Could you quote what you originally said? I swear, Reddit is actually worse than Waypoint.

I'm assuming it wasn't him:

Huke is playing pro 8s in COD with formal in friends if anyone wants to watch

https://www.twitch.tv/formal

he's getting ready to switch back to COD. Him going back to COD when he turns 18 is the worst kept secret in console esports.

Also, hilarious they're taking umbrage with me participating in conversation on a Halo forum I HAVE BEEN A PART OF BEFORE THEY WERE INTERESTED IN HALO (back to THC days) yet this is the normal crap I deal with during my events:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/4d6xy2/esl_social_media_vs_mlg_social_media/

I was supportive all weekend of HWC and only answered questions about MLG when asked on this forum and said nothing negative about the event (other than calling into question why they didn't just embrace it as being at the studio)

TBF it was some random dude on a reddit thread gossiping. I'd take it with a giant grain of salt, but wouldn't be surprised.

I'm sure it's infuriating for you with your history in this scene as well as the heart and soul you pour into your events when you hear stuff like this. It's just as infuriating for us as a community because in my opinion it just shows ESL is very aware of what is said on this forum. I think it's pretty clear that many lurk and do not post.

We basically have a group of people who are in charge at ESL that are reading our comments and concerns, they see us begging for transparency and answers. We've provided countless feedback, we've requested numerous changes. Somehow, in my opinion Halo 5 is regressing, not improving. I will credit the production value of the streams, but thats a small portion of the overall scene/community.

So what I am getting at is they see and read all of this and know we are dying for someone to clear up the air, and they REFUSE. Instead, we have to get our insight you, a guy who isn't even involved in the HCS but just is involved in the industry and has a history with Halo. Rather than offering more conversations, better transparency, or trying to do what you do, but better, (you know, cause it's they're job) they instead remain silent and instead will get upset that you are talking to us here.

There shouldn't be a world where this is true. If someone wanted me to paint them a picture and they asked me every day for 2 years to do it and I never responded. Why should I get upset that some other painter is nice enough to come in and offer perspective. Cause it's a competition? For who? Cause the priority is the community and not TO's so I'm pretty baffled.

I just can't keep posting these long drawn out posts about how important transparency is. The only person at ESL that offers constant transparency is TheSimms and it often requires some sort of damage control that falls under someone else responsibility. Simms, I don't know how you do it but it's clear that your passion is not just for casting, or the HCS, but it's for the community. So thanks a ton for that!

edited out the edited part of your post.

It'll be a shame to see Huke leave.  I guess it makes sense for him though

Edited the rest. Don't care enough, used to it at this point.

Don't worry Adam, you are one of the best in the industry and at this point nobody of 343 deserves it to be working with you again.

This statement actually broke me today. I stood and defended 343 in many situations, but ignoring a kotaku article, the biggest twitter story in the esports scene, a big neogaf thread and again TB is just freaking stupid.

(btw a bunch of "adults" had to show me how to use Reddit properly. I got Halo.bungie.org flashbacks.)

this sounds like someone who is used to getting online to interact with the community

we’re already well underway in planning for our Summer and Fall Pro Leagues

these should already be done. if they are still planning the season that should be starting next month, then holy hell it will be a rough one

I personally had an amazing time at the event, and the fans and players I talked to had a blast. But in talking to them, there were legitimate criticisms, constructive feedback and some great ideas for future events.

it doesnt sound like he talked to many people...

We will do better

there must be a 343 damage control script at this point

Finally someone's asking important questions :simms:

I've asked a few times what kind of food trucks were there but nobody ever answers. My fatass really wants to know.

You can set the metrics api in twitter to report if the video was 100% in view for 3 seconds. User opens up twitter, the video plays for 3 seconds, unique viewer. I'm not saying that's what they did, just throwing it out there as a possibly.
