HCS Pro League Summer 2017 Teams, Seeds, and Discussion‏

Recommended Posts

Nearly double the uniques of our Csgo major that peaked at 1.67 million peak concurrent and had 47,000,000 hours consumed.

I wonder how they accounted for Twitter to get those stats. Interesting

Edit: not calling into question stats dudes! I'm seriously curious about Twitter as a platform. We had nearly 30,000,000 uniques on twitch before we cut out auto play drive bys from the carousel that caused flawed stats. I wonder if twitters reporting is sophisticated enough to sieve out similar data...or is it that powerful period

Tell me that using Twitter to gain millions in "unique" viewers was all just a ploy to deem the event an overall success.

Its more or less a ploy to breakout from the confines of twitch's niche and show advertisers that they have an expansive reach through networking-based social media.

Regardless of whether or not people clicked on the ad or not, advertisers are now salavating even more at the prospects of investing in esports/streaming now that flatforms far more ubiquitous than twitch are in the game.

Edit: 10 million unique people opening the ad over the course of 3 long days isn't really farfetched. Now some might argue that isnt an accurate way to track, but its essentially the same way twitch works, right?

Concurrent viewership implies people were actively keeping the window open, such that the viewership could build. I imagine that people keeping it locked on Twitter greatly contributed to these numbers.

I think we can safely assume that most of the people who saw it on Twitter haven't become HCS fans. But it certainly broadened its reach.

Back in 2009-10 I remember wondering after being involved in MLG for years what life without competitive Halo would be like. Then the disaster that was Reach hit and when MLG dropped the game in 2012 it was thrust upon me and it was easy to move on. I very rarely played or even thought about Halo and figured I never would again. Then MCC was announced and I was pulled back in full force, it felt like 2007 hype levels all over again and literally since the moment of release 343 and all their contracted companies have been a constant disappointment. Just when you think the trough is at its lowest things continually get worse. Yes matches now are excellent and the level of competition is great, but putting up with awful events, horrendous league decision making, awful settings choices, and the laundry list of disrespect shown by 343 just isn't worth it anymore. I don't want to leave but I feel 343 is forcing me (a competitive Halo for for over a decade) out.

I hope I'm proven wrong and 2017 is an amazing year for Halo and something happens to suck me right back in full force but it really feels like 343 doesn't want fans like us anymore.

It's really disgusting how they spin their fake numbers on Twitter and try to show it as growth. The fact that nobody is taking responsibility is a joke. Halo will never improve. It's the same fucking story every year. I wish I wasn't so invested into the community and the pros. 343 and ESL don't deserve our support.

And what's with all the people saying we should be grateful for 343 supporting esports. Do they think they're doing it out of the goodness of their heart? I'm so fed up with all the bullshit.

Please let MLG run events/competitive side of things.

Also, it would be cool to see a 1v1 and 2v2 league.

Come. It's a big thing for the city, I think it'll be great venue and a great event. Gears players are known for their trash talk and passion. Plus, Moses, Sandman, Teapot, and I will be there, amongst others I think.

What were the numbers minus Twitter? I imagine the amount of people actually watching was similar to Facebook's stream (which if I remember correctly from when I saw it on Saturday, was nothing but a couple of hundred). So I'm curious to know what the numbers would've been minus twitter. I suspect there would be a massive drop off in viewer count.

"Once again Activision owns MLG. Would you risk your prized IP to a company owned by your closet fps competitor?"

But MLG also runs Gears esports.- Zavehi

Question:  Does MCC even work to 100% yet?

I'm actually surprised there wasn't a lawsuit over this game at some point since it's release.

It seems to be hit or miss for each individual person, their location/region, and maybe time of day. I personally have little to no problems, but I also have some patience if I don't get a match in 30 seconds. I also try random "tricks" that may or may not actually help.. placebo's are helluva of drug.

My group of friends can have zero problems all night long, but as soon as one specific person joins.. no matches. ever.

I love the line in Frankie's post where he said he had a good time even though a few people had concerns. I love the way they do damage control by basically saying it was just a few people but everyone else liked it.

And ffs we got yet another "we'll do better next time. We love halo esports."

Nothing will ever change with them
