Halo World Championship 2017 Teams, Seeds, and Discussion‏

That's what contracts are for....

...except when you hold your player to their contract, you, the organization, become the bad guy. It's a lose lose situation for the organization because they have a contracted player badmouthing you to the community that is loyal to the player, not the team.

I just hate how easily teams disband after one event or a week and then go hunting for a new org and repeat the process.

You're saying the exact same thing I did. I just don't care for the slight towards 343 instead of just saying it's not worth the money. All that does is transfer the blame, and creates faux sympathy for ALG which is already working here.

Less than 2 months later the skins are gone, when those resources could have been used on teams in pro league who for sure would have stayed for the year

And optic was in the scene longer, fyi

Come on man, you know you can't have a different opinion than the majority of the forum or you are going to be downvoted as hell and your opinion is gonna be automatically wrong, even though it probably isn't.

Liquid entered the Halo scene during Season 2... before nV.

Ohh. I meant I couldn't remember who entered first between nV and ALG. Sorry if that wasn't clear

lets say that you are right. that shows a systematic failure on the part of 343 and the hcs for allowing competitive halo to become an 8 team sport. there needs to be a better way for am teams to become pro. i think this means more open tourneys with higher prize pools. and those tourneys need to influence who is in pro league. we have a 1 time relegation now, but it would be better to have top 8 from the open event to go to pro league, then have to fight and retain their spot come next event. that ability to allow fresh blood into the spot light will draw orgs players and viewers.

Pro league is actually really bad in attracting new orgs as it basically means only the 8 pro teams are worth sponsoring. Pro league can still work as long as there is emphasis put on the AM side of things but last years format was not good. All you need to do is look at GoW. In most peoples opinion, halo should be greater but the format they use for GoW attracts some way bigger orgs than Halo has

Having prize pools of 20k-50k for Open events and the locations doesn't help a lot.

pro league is awesome in that it creates weekly content and exposure. what we need to add is more opportunities throughout the season for outside teams to break in and earn that exposure. that means meaningful open tournaments. and give them large prize pools throughout the season. 25kk pools arent sustainable for any but the winners. 75-100k will reward the top 8 better and will drive better turnouts

We need something like...

Week 1 pro league

Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

Week off for 100k open event

Week 5

Week 6

Week 7

Week 8

Next week-season finals 250/300k open event

That's 10 week's, 2 week break after finals for a total of 12 weeks/3 months and start the next season.

Unsure how it would work but if you could work in relegation matches around the open events so AM teams could break in during that would be awesome

My ideal scenarios would be

Season Opener LAN 100k open

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

Mid Season LAN 100k open

Week 5

Week 6

Week 7

Week 8

Finals 250k open

Pro matches and Legendary cups would be for HCS points. Top 12 teams in points qualify for pool play at the LANs, and then proceed to champ bracket. Everyone else plays through open bracket (seeded by HCS points). Top 4 complete the champ bracket. No bonus points for pro teams.

Top 8 at finals make it into next seasons pro league.

Letting AMs play for pools would bring so many more opportunities. Pro's would have a reason to scrimmage top AMs. Top AMs would get more stream time. The Stream would have fewer dull matches.

Letting top 8 at finals determine next seasons pro league would give more AMs an opportunity to break in.

i would do 100k opens after week 3 and 6 with a 300k finals. pro league can be for champ bracket seeding points while weekly open online events like last season can be for am bracket points. top 8 at the open event move to pro league for those points. finals can be top 12-16 by point totals

Good call on the season opener LAN, that does sound nice.

Yep, we also need weekly AM online tournies, with a small prize (500 1st, 250 2nd, 100 3rd?)

I could definitely see Spartan ending up on eg.

You really think it'll happen? It could be EG tilt team 2.0 with him on the team. Unless he really is meaning what he says he'll do on twitter, I thought Ryannoob would work better.

I don't think so. Because of what he said about the situation when Ace and APG try to join EG when spartan tried to team with them.

This format is really good as it mirrors what other console esports (cod, gears) do well. I would like to see the results of the season opener lan give points based on placing with pro league and the legendary cups giving a smaller amount of points than the lan. This way the seeding at the top really comes down to lan performance, but not as difficult to change seed as it was with the worlds online cups. This means if am's do really well at the opener lan they would be straight in groups and could force some pro teams to compete in open bracket.

I would also add a season closing lan for 100k the week after pro league (like vegas was with fall finals) with the top 8 teams after that going into the actual pro league finals. This way we get 3 open LANs and 1 invitational.

Of all the players available hes about the most talented, and style wise makes sense given how versatile he is and he likes to play fast which is what eg needs I like Ryan too but I think his talents will get washed out with the towey, roybox comm triumvirate.

I do wonder how much being available to get to the eg house will factor in. Ryan, Spartan, etc. all live far away

The alg news sucks but it's not really surprising

These OpTic vision videos have somehow, against my will, made me interested in the other OpTic teams and now I watch most of their channels ... Hecz is one sneaky guy
