plasmadan Posted July 31, 2016 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/84288219/diabotical-by-the-gd-studio 2GD's Game is officially a year away from release! Diabotical in a nutshell: The best bits of the genre, improved and fine-tuned by ex-pros Classic and new game modes for both solo and team play Plenty of cosmetic customization In-house engine, multi-user map editor and modding support Extensive community and esport features The game will be on Steam for Windows at around the $10-15 mark 10-12 months left in development, closed beta asap What to expect on launch day from gameplay: Enhanced movement system Seven weapons Power-ups and gadgets (no loadouts) Armour and health pick-ups (no regeneration) Classic game modes like TDM, FFA, CTF, DUEL, CA, IG, Defrag, plus three new game modes including Wingbot (Co-op 2v2) Lots and lots of maps What to expect on launch day from competitive features: Dedicated servers and LAN support Ladders Rank matchmaking (solo and team) Comprehensive stats and social features Automatic in-game tournament system with prizes Community-created tournaments What to expect on launch day from customization: Free and open modding support Multi-user map editor Plenty of eggbot and weapon skins (both free and premium) Team-skins and stickers Global announcer sound packs, eggbot voice chips and animations Customizable HUDS (html5) Pipeline for community-created maps and cosmetics This has bigger potential than other indie AFPS games like reflex. 2GD has a lot of connections within the esports side of gaming. There are big figures from other communities like CSGO, DoTA, SC2, ect that are already promoting the title. Really excited and surprised by the game. I didn't think i'd like the egg models but with the different skins it looks pretty good! 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

EagleBurn Posted August 1, 2016 Interesting. I like how they built their own engine and will have a map editor, and I'm a huge fan of the tournament bracket! I'm wondering about the mod support though. Since the game won't have it's own launcher and will be on Steam, how will the mods work exactly? Is it going to be through the Steam Workshop or is there going to be a mod marketplace in-game? And I like how they have a clear window of release. This is what made me back it. It wouldn't surprise me if this game is finished before Reflex and UT. A 100% finished arena shooter would be nice. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Warlord Wossman Posted August 1, 2016 This has bigger potential than other indie AFPS games like reflex. Why is that? I think the game is cool and all but Reflex is probably the best AFPS title that is getting into the modern state of games. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

NAK Posted August 18, 2016 This game looks great. I wish we could hire them to make a CE clone when they are finished. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Warlord Wossman Posted August 18, 2016 This game looks great. I wish we could hire them to make a CE clone when they are finished. Why? I think AFPS gameplay is far better than CE. Would rather see them make another AFPS game. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
EagleBurn Posted August 19, 2016 This game looks great. I wish we could hire them to make a CE clone when they are finished. CE is arena-lite. It's as arena as you can get with a controller. Diabotical is pure arena. No reason for them to go lower on the arena totem pole. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

Ramirez77 Posted February 5, 2017 Minor update released a few days ago, starts about 10 minutes in and ends around 40 minutes. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/118722031?t=6m06s In it he covers: -Maps and Artwork -Hub features like kiosks that take you through various menus such as training, bot customization, etc. -Cosmetics, voice packs for eggbots -Community contributing voicelines and potential rewards for doing so. -Progress on weapon models. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Ramirez77 Posted February 28, 2017 There was another update a few days ago: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/124412576?t=3m11s -Showing off various new maps in progress. Mentions how he doesn't want to just copy old Quake maps. -Improvements on Plasma Gun and Machine Gun -Discussion about how starter weapons will start out weak but can be upgraded with pickups to be on par with other weapons, to better level out the sandbox. -New Pickups...throwable grenade-like mini-eggbots that explode, slow enemies, etc. Interesting. -Mentions other plans to make the gameplay more different from Quake. -You will be able to disable weapon models in first person. -HUD will be customizable. -He has plans for post-launch support. -And more. This update made me a bit more hopeful in this game. Was initially worried it would be too much of a pure Quake clone but it does seem like they have a lot of independent ideas they're working on. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
