2016 Election Thread

I think everyone will agree that he made a mistake, regardless if in his heart he is racist or not it came off as racist, so that is stupid for him to say... especially when running for president.

All these groups have white people.

Do you really not know what a race is?

Trump doesn't want a judge who conflicts with his campaign. Those three groups conflict with his campaign.

I come from a minority group as well... funny how bad it can get sometimes but yet people turn a blind eye to it.

You know, abstaining this election seems to be the only conscionable decision.

You get either an avowed socialist, a flip flopping criminal, or a flip flopping economic authoritarian.

Take your pick.

If Ted Cruz was still in the race, we might actually have a decent candidate.

Cruz is a social right wing clown.

Trump has never been accused of being racist in his over 30 years of doing worldwide business. He runs aganist the democrats, and within 6 months everyone thinks he's a racist. Just like fellow businessman Mitt Romney was viewed as a sexist, despite numerous charities supporting women. Just run aganist the Dems and they'll label you a bigot. When in fact, democrats have been ruining inner cities and making minorities lives miserable for the past 80 years....

Uh running against the Democrats has nothing to do with him going on TV and saying racist things.

His own republicans, specifically Paul Ryan, called his words racist lol.

It's interesting to see Cruz get put down because he is both republican and not camera-ready the way Trump is.

He is most CERTAINLY better than Sanders and Hillary, and more consistent in his beliefs than Trump.

As a side note, anybody surprised Sanders was ever taken seriously? The dude's bottom line was "Being rich means you screwed everyone out of their money, now we take yours". Absolutely asinine political philosophy. Not to mention this guy thought soviet bread lines were a good thing -_-

I know @ will hate me, but Democratic socialism is still socialism. You can't talk about the government encroaching on privacy and collecting your data but simultaneously back an economic system where the government controls production.

Bernie was always a joke.  I wonder if the Bernie believers will turn out on election day to vote for Hillary.  Maybe they will just continue to preach "tolerance" while physically assaulting peaceful Trump supporters.

I hear people saying that Trump is a racist, but I've yet to hear one single racist thing that he has said.  Bernie has made the most racist statements out of any candidate.

Cruz was awful because he was authoritarian, a corporate sell out, and overly religious, a lot of his ideas have shown to be complete bullshit in the past, like decreasing taxes but increasing spending, also his foreign policy was atrocious, more of the same shit that I hated about these last two administrations. Plus he is the zodiac killer.

Sanders philosophy was that having a shit ton of money shouldn't mean you get to cheat the system, because eventually that does screw over some people, like the way the oil industry having bought the house committee on science space and technology will screw over floridians who will see their houses under water in the near future. Guys not perfect (as I mention below) but he had things that I liked the put him above guys like trump and Hillary.

Democratic socialism is still democracy too, the point of a mixed system is to utilize the better aspects of both, it's not a system where the government is in such control over production that it ceases to become capitalist, it usually involves the funneling of your taxes into more socialist programs, like public education or healthcare, things that don't need to be an "industry" to begin with since the point of both is to benefit the people specifically by giving them things they literally need to have, the other plan was to break up the bigger banks, something that would've encouraged more competition between smaller companies, that's not anti capitalist. I mean sanders was by no means a perfect candidate, you bring up the breadline thing (which I think he was saying was that it was a good thing that there was just food that could go around at all, but that's still a bad situation), that poor white line where he could've worded it far better and it would've been correct, he's not too hot on nuclear, his gun stance has its dumb aspects, but I liked him because he was pushing some kind of progressive agenda, being a progressive I'll take any candidate I can get who even sneezes in that direction since most of the candidates we get here in the states are usually the worst.

Of course this doesn't matter anymore because unless there's an indictment he's not winning anything, as has really been the case from the beginning.

Cruz's lower flat tax is possibly the best way to get money back in the system. Trump's on his website was pretty solid until he started changing positions every 5 minutes. We don't need equality of outcomew, but equality of opportunity. Thats called freedom and independence. Overly religious matters little; Cruz is more libertarian than most candidates and is all for lesser government and more independent state control.

His philosophy and constant catchphrase has been him declaring the "unfairness" of the 1% owning 50% of the wealth. That's like saying its unfair that Congress isn't 50/50 female and male. The point is those who do the best succeed, and inequality is a product of human nature and people's ability. That's capitalism. The system you're describing where having money means you're above the law is corporatism, not capitalism. Besides, the VAST majority of business are small business owners. They're not all this entity that is out to actively screw people over; in fact, if we actually had a free market, screwing people over would be impossible because big government would not have the ability to bail out or subsidize businesses.

Bernie is advocating more social programs for what he considers basic human rights, like education and health care, or what you say "should not be business anyway". Where do you draw that line, then? You're making a subjective claim and because that distinction is so vague, you're giving a government the authority to deem what is and is not a right and tax and pay for those "rights" accordingly. The only clear cut cases of what rights the government can enforce are in the constitution and it's amendments. Nowhere does that say that the federal government must have a role in education or healthcare, which makes them free to the forces of the private sector.

The economic authoritarianism of his progressive tax is just making us all lose money. Not only is it immoral, but you're restricting the people's ability to control their business and work within restrictions to make ends meet. The free market and flat tax puts more money in the system by making competition paramount and skill being required to make a good living. The minimum wage increase is not how you improve employee's wages; all you're doing is increasing spending cost and, because of percieved value, just making the dollar worth less because people won't immediately value a fry cook more after this change.

*sigh* the problem is that criticizing Bernie makes me upset, because he's like the most honest politician we've had in a long ass time. Unfortunately, that honesty is less important than the policies he's promoting. Sucky ass situation.

Bit rambly, but I'm tired and just woke up. Hope I made some points in there without getting excessively off topic.

And Trump has made racist and sexist comments throughout his life and no one cared. It is being brought to the light now because each side needs something to grab onto.

Happens all the time. Just like trying to discredit Obama for not being American when he ran BOTH times.

lol Obama ran against low tier losers, that's the only reason he had two terms. Trump already won the election IMO, especially since people are still silly enough to think he's got no chance. Just like he didn't have a chance to win the nomination, which he won in a landslide...

Do you really want HIlldawg tho? like seriously
