Guys, sorry but can we stop arguing about CoD/UT/CS/Quake in the Halo Pro League topic?

 

I just wanna see my  :intel:  :wutface:

There's going to continue to be no intel until dates are announced for a Pro League.

Huh? Picks and Bans & Specialist Draft in CoD lasts less than a minute.

Seems like the very few pro league matches I tune into it takes one min for each of the picks bans and classes with breaks in between each one. Maybe I'm misremembering. Either way, it was boring and could be done "on paper" in halo since it would just be picking/banning a map/gametype combo. Then they could quickly show what the gametypes will be, while speaking over which ones were picked and banned.

What makes you think I'm not well informed? You think if I was well informed I'd really think CSGO doesn't deserve it's success?

 

My origins as an FPS fan was because of Quake and UT. I just like CSGO better. 

 

I don't think because of it's origins it automatically made CS worse. Idk man. Mod or not, it was a blast to play back then. Unlike anything I played before it. 

 

For a third time, I'm not arguing whether you should like it or not. And playing games and being involved in the communities are two very different things. I'm saying you weren't well informed because in all honesty, it was kind of ridiculous what you were saying. You're acting as if CS had this perfect buildup to what it is today. It wasn't perfect. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but what you're saying is what you hope it was, not what it was.

I agree with you.

 

Map/gametype picks and bans are great. 

 

Something about the CoD ones are boring, predictable and usually the same. 

 

I feel like maps affect teams a lot more, like in CSGO. Imagine banning a teams best gametype?

You read my posts wrong then. Go back and read it. I never once talked about CSGOs buildup before YOU mentioned it. I never even mentioned it's origin. I was talking about the current popularity comparisons w/ CoD, CS, and Halo.

Map and gametype bans and Protects are far more exciting and meaningful.

 

Plus you do it before a series and not before every game.

I'd be all for this if there wasn't already 182 pages of content that includes 0 good intel as there are only 2 set teams.

Not a fan of the gameplay but I really like the production on this COD tournament.

 

Possibly watching another massive choke this weekend too...

Picks and bans in Halo would be for banning a map/gametype and wouldn't have to take minutes on stream like it does in CoD. The casters could simply say X team banned these 2 gametypes and picked these 2 gametypes. Here's the gametypes that will be used in this Bo7. Ideally I'd like to see for pro league:

 

1. Each team bans 2 of the 13 maps/gametypes.

2. Each team picks 2 of the 13 maps/gametypes.

3. That leaves 5 options for the random other 3 gametypes to be selected.

 

Obviously just original thoughts and it could be tweaked.

 

Would be better to just have a rigid gametype flow (Flag, Slayer, SH, Flag, Slayer, SH, Slayer or whatever) and have each team ban maps, rather than gametypes.

 

In the case of Strongholds/Slayer, you could have the option to either Ban a Map or choose what side you want. (Or, if you ban until only one map is left, then team that doesn't get last ban gets side choice.)

CS, while it may not have been as popular or as "cool", was still a great tactical shooter. There's a reason its alive now and Quake/UT isn't.

 

It's fucking timeless.

I already responded it, but wow....If you ever want to get actual threats from people, go into a Quake or UT community and copy/paste that in a thread.

I loved quake but never had a great pc/connection when I was little to really get into it, but I still watch matches on twitch.

I changed it to a gif because its like, you guys aren't arguing like twats and nothing is even going on.  Felt like I made a dick move.

And then Epic was bought out by Bethesda and they pulled an EA and gutted that company until they had no talent left. The reason for the desaturation of arena shooters were exterior problems with the developers, not the genre.

Are you referring to id being bought by Bethesda/Zenimax, or Tencent taking control of Epic?

They just had the crowd rush the stage at this CoD event...

 

There are more people on that CoD stage than tickets sold to fans for Worlds.
