Instant Power Up?

Hi All,

 

I'm not sure if anyone has encountered this glitch, but after a short search I didn't get any results.

 

To be honest I feel like it could potentially be a game changer.

 

As with most glitches it was found by complete fluke during a social ctf game as you can see below:

Yeah. Weird. I somehow picked up the OS instantly, no activation time, no vulnerability, just instant OS.

 

At first I wasn't sure if it was a result of lag or something like that so I thought I would go in to some customs and see if I could replicate it, turns out, I could:

Well, it wasn't lag. As most people are probably thinking now, you can probably do this with other power ups right? Well:

The more observant of you have most likely noticed I'm punching, and that's the cause and I am somehow getting instant effects of power ups.

 

To replicate my way: Hold down your activation/reload button (in my case B as I play Bumper Jumper) followed by your melee button (which you must then hold down) JUST AS you walk over the power up. As you will see below the timing is quite important on this:

So yeah, enjoy! Would be interesting to see if this changes anything, especially for the HWC. I imagine this will most likely be patched soon so enjoy whilst you can!

 

Shout out to Major O Cheese and Mojo Fuzzzo for humouring me and working this out with me.

 

Major O Cheese also had success using a similar method, but instead of holding down the melee button you can also double melee as you walk over the power up.

I have yet to be able to do this the way OP has shown,

 

but I have found success thrusting over a powerup then holding the pick up button and melee. It may be more consistent this way.

all you have to do is hold x, and keep pressing melee. I just did it in a BTB map doing it that way

This will 100% be patched. 343i intentionally butchered designed the powerups that way. And they already have a history of patching glitches that could increase the skill gap (slide boosts, super nades in H4 etc.)

Just gave this a go in customs and it's pretty easy. Hopefully like the thruster grenade throw it gets left alone.
