  1. This dude is just a troll. As a PC player, I can argue all day about how kbm has a higher mechanical skill ceiling and that makes the game slightly more competitive. At the end of the day though, Halo has been played for almost 2 decades on console and all the games on MCC were originally console games. The fact that people are gonna play on controller and want to compete on controller is obvious. And its very unlikely that 343 will reduce auto aim for a console game ported to PC for some money off of people's nostalgia, that will only competitively last about a year anyway. Infinite is the first Halo game being worked on for both PC and console, so hopefully theres a better attempt to balance it out there.
  2. Yeah I agree it’s pretty bullshit. 343 doesn’t understand the importance of forge/custom games and a file share at all. I remember all the shit Halo 5 got for releasing without them, and all the shit mcc had for no file share as well. I’m expecting a shit ton of criticism tomorrow from average people because they probably didn’t get the memo that forge wasn’t on release. Anyway, is the Xbox to PC transfer of files only a one time thing? If so that’s pretty shit as well.
  3. Are the kbm issues gonna be fixed and is aim assist and magnetism dialed back, so it’s not an advantage to out right use a controller. Because if it’s just a tournament of people playing with a controller on PC what’s the point? Unless they just ban controller as an input type.
  4. Isn’t it releasing on Xbox on launch tho? Just not PC. As long as we can consistently transfer from Xbox to PC, it should be ok. It won’t be ideal but at least it’s something.
  5. Dint know if anyone has said this, but I wonder if modding can remove bullet magnetism as well. Maybe then kbm will have its own competitive setting. Yeah I have a feeling that literally none of our tweaks to v7 will ever be realized because 343 and TOS won’t care for what’s less than a year of tournament play. It honestly could just be better to go all out and create the most ideal settings anyways and hope it gains popularity because I feel like no ones gonna care enough to make a small adjustment.
  6. You know what? I agree with this, I don’t think there should be near as much slayer. In fact, I’d be down to remove it completely, but it doesn’t really seem like most people would agree with that let alone having 343 approve it. but thinking about it seriously, 6 slayer maps isn’t too much and it’s fine imo.
  7. I think Reach is the way to go because of all the new and returning players coming to view the scene because that’s all PC players will be able to play for the time being. on that last part, I think that’s why we’ve had this theme of making the changes only to build upon v7 and make any tweaks reasonable. So hopefully these aren’t too much of changes, so they can quickly be tested and implemented.
  8. I think it’s also important to note that what we conclude on will last less than a year, so it doesn’t need to be perfect just good enough to sustain for a year. After that we can go complaining about the setting 343 will impose on us for Infinite. That is unless Infinite completely flops and we somehow decide to run the scene grassroots on previous games like smash bros does.
  9. This makes sense too, I personally like the idea of replacing Sanc and Zealot CTF for their Bomb counter parts. and this works by then just adding Pit CTF.
  10. So I’m gonna attempt to create an organized list of possible to do things. I liked @Hard Way idea of having a 6 TS/ 2/2/2/2 objective split for maps and think it’s the best idea we have to build upon v7 settings. I compiled @Basu list of potential maps and grouped them by game type. Here’s what I have: Current settings TS: Zealot, Countdown, Sanc, Battle Canyon, Penance • We need to add one TS to make 6 CTF: Zealot, Countdown, Sanc, Pit • We need to replace two of these with bomb maps KOTH: Nexus, Battle Canyon • We need to add two ball maps Possible TS Potential Tier • Oasis, Element, Powerhouse, Nexus Overplayed Tier • Pit, Warlock Low Priority Tier • reflection Possible Bomb Maps Potential Tier • Countdown, Oversoul, Sanc, Zealot, Nexus Overplayed Tier • Warlock Possible Ball Maps Potential Tier • Nexus, Zealot Overplayed Tier • Lockout, Warlock Low Priority Tier • reflection Possible KOTH Maps Potential Tier • Oasis, Splash, Powerhouse Low Priority Tier • reflection, high noon, penance, solitary Possible CTF Maps Potential Tier • A9 Low Priority Tier • BC (round switching) Things to to keep in mind: These lists aren’t our definitive only options, feel free to add to them. Some of these maps need tweaking on forge (which I’m pretty sure won’t be out on release) Its a good idea to keep to only two game types per map. Some of the maps, like those in the KOTH section in v7 can still be replaced if wanted. Also feel free to disagree with how the game type splits should be set up.
  11. Lets hope PC MCC will ignite a spark in the scene that can carry momentum into Infinite, so our beautiful game can be recognized once again.
  12. ESL has never been a bad TO, they just didn't care about Halo. They've always been top tier in CS, R6, Dota (i think I don't follow dota). What we need is a TO that actually cares about growing and hosting our game, the way MLG did back in the day
  13. If Infinite on PC doesn't have its own dev kit/map editor seperate from forge I'll be kind of disappointed and feel that they aren't making enough use of the PC platform. Some of the most famous maps in games have stemmed from fan built maps. CS's competitive scene used tons of them in their rotation. It would be so great for the community as a whole if we had access to better fan made maps.
  14. Pretty much what they should be doing anyway with MCC on PC. People will go crazy over nostalgia. Just look at WOW Classic.
  15. You guys are actually delusional if you think this move was to aid promotion for Halo. Sure it helps but it’s nowhere near the main reason. Ninja stuck through AGL and practically begged people to continue supporting a community for the shittiest game in our series. It’s clear that he loved Halo, and I have no doubt in my mind that he would’ve at least played a bit of MCC PC son stream or Infinite, whether he was on twitch or mixer. Microsoft didn’t need to pay him for that lol. Microsoft did this to open up their streaming platform because if they get a large share of this market, they will have much more power and influence in esports and gaming as a whole. Having Mixer be successful is probably much more valuable than having one successful game. On a side note, I wouldn’t be surprised if news comes out for a few more big name streamers like Dr Lupo or something to move over to Mixer.
  16. If it’s a fun playlist and has rewards for playing it, people will. Also if it’s like what the other person said as a ranked playlist. I could see playlists like ranked btb or ranked grifball getting traction for a few months of rotation while they’d be dead otherwise. I don’t think it’s terrible to try. A 343’s pick of the week or month for fileshare is something that I agree with and would be great. Yeah, for sure, I didn’t put to much thought into my example and I’m sure there’s many better ideas, but I would like to see the concept.
  17. This is such a childish critique. Rotational playlists are a great way to keep community interest in the game longer term, and can bring incentives for people to play a playlist that normally would have a low population, but more people will play it when it’s limited time and has rewards tied to it. Double XP weekends are also great, both can be successfully implemented. i would also like to see daily/weekly/monthly challenges in the game. As well as combined challenges for the community; for example, ‘get 1,000,000 headshots’ and if it’s completed everyone who participated gets a reward.
  18. This should be exactly how it works really. But it needs to be tested for ranked modes, or just separate matchmaking by input times in ranked. Even with crazy aim assist, i don’t think it would be much of a noticeable advantage.
  19. I don’t think any Halo maps are big enough for render distances to factor in. Also the first Xbox one already runs MCC say 60 fps, which is high enough that theres not much advantage to having it higher, just preference.
  20. I think the most important thing that favyn kind of left implied, is that devs can go crazy with mechanics they implement that aren’t base player mechanics. The base player mechanics are the only type mechanics on favyn’s list that are constant throughout every game type or campaign level. With evolutions on the environment, vehicles, or pickups, you can take them away and fall back to the tried and true gameplay if the players deem them bad innovations, but you can’t take away a base player trait. Equipment from Halo 3 was a perfect example of this kind of evolution to Halo.
  21. I think MS as a whole is moving toward PC. They already have a lockdown with windows, and are looking to compete in the gaming space with game pass and the Xbox brand. Xbox is now more of a home console for more casual and less tech-savvy people, who can’t bother to use a computer. I hope they just deal with matchmaking by input type, so controller players won’t have to play against kbm players. I also hope there’s a circuit for kbm tournaments, I’d love to see how much the gameplay will differ.
  22. Yeah I understand it, and I’m not against it entirely, I would personally rather have it another way.
  23. Yeah I want my ranking system to convey my skill, and I don’t want to grind through pointless ranks just to reach what i actually am. This is why I don’t want to start at 1. If I climb in a rank I want it to be because I’m actually getting better as a player.
  24. Eh, I play rocket league a lot and even with a good placement cycle the most I've ever jumped is like one subdivision (eg Diamond 1 to diamond 2). I guess it depends on the game and ranking system, and if the devs are capable of making a good ranking system, which unfortunately I don't have full faith in 343 to do any of this right. I think what Boyo said was fine, Id be ok with that. Also, why can't we just show your pure mmr and attach a rank onto certain levels? Im not saying they have to exclusively play ranked, but more people coming to try ranked for the rewards or for a more competitive aspect is always a good thing even if its not their main playlist. I still play lots of action sack even though I mostly play ranked. I think being accessible is important. Yeah, patch notes and halo dont really happen, but there can always be new themes, cosmetics, maps, and community events/challenges. These restrictions sound fine, but what happens if the game isnt popular enough to support constantly matching teams with teams, and queue times are way too high? I think restricting queue sizes might be beneficial for high ranked players and very low ranked players.
  25. I like this. I think only having these 3 playlists makes perfect sense. Im not sure about this, having tiers open for only the top percents kinda just makes the tiers unnobtainable for the masses. I'm not fully agaisnt the 1-50 system. It works and its nostalgic, though I'd rather have something newer and updated, and this compromise just feels lackluster and useless to the point where I would rather have one or the other. What I do like about what you said is that for people who obtain the 50, there is still something to be had afterwards, whether it be some EXP rank on top, or some leaderboard, or just showing your raw mmr, having something extra to play for is necessary. Also if a tiered system is implemented, I like these names for the tiers, and would much rather have these.
