  1. CARTOGRAPHER BULLETIN: 4V4 MAPS WANTED The Community Cartographers are collecting 4v4 maps to be considered for Halo 5's Arena and Team Slayer matchmaking playlists. While we don't have specific dates to share yet, we want this announcement to encourage you to start creating or refining your designs. Our search for 4v4 maps is two fold, we are accepting both original designs and remakes of classic Halo maps. Please note, our intention is not to cross pollinate originals and remakes together in a single playlist. We wish to create a separate playlist revolved around the remake maps that will use Halo 2 BR starts. We recommend that you submit your 4v4 maps to as many website platforms as possible to ensure that your map receives the recognition and attention it deserves. WHERE DO I SUBMIT MY MAP? As you may have seen in the past during our collection of infection maps, we have implemented a new map submission system on Halo Waypoint acting as a repository for all 3rd party community websites such as this one. We just finished creating all of the appropriate submission threads on Halo Waypoint for all map gathering needs. Halo Waypoint: Official Map Submission Thread When your 4v4 map is complete and you are submitting it on Halo Waypoint, please follow the proper format when submitting your maps. Simply copy and paste the provided structure verbatim into your post. Failure to include the required portions of your submission may result in your map not being reviewed. Map Name: Author(s): Gametypes: (Slayer, Strongholds, Assault, Capture the Flag, Oddball) Map Description: (at most 1-2 sentences) Screenshot: (XboxDVR or image link) (Optional) Video: (XboxDVR or YouTube link) 4v4 ARENA DETAILS - All existing Arena game modes are available to use such as Slayer, Strongholds, Capture the Flag and Assault. While we encourage you to set up as many gametypes as possible, not all gametypes are required to function on a single map. Please set up game modes that you feel best suite the space, player experience and symmetry. - Symmetrical maps are best suited for Slayer, Capture the Flag, Assault and Strongholds. - Asymmetrical maps are best suited for Slayer and Strongholds. - Remake maps will be using Halo 2 BR starts while utilizing Halo 5 standard movement mechanics. BE AVAILABLE FOR FEEDBACK After your 4v4 map is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Community Cartographers. They will be meticulous in looking for any map issues that will impact gameplay: player containment, incorrect spawn points, misplaced kill barriers, unruly geometry, etc. If any revisions are required, the Cartographers will contact the map’s creator with feedback. Maps that are not properly contained with kill boundaries or suffer from performance issues won’t be considered for matchmaking. As always, 343 Industries has the final say in everything that goes into matchmaking and when the playlist is updated. The Community Cartographers will make recommendations, but 343 Industries will make the final call. Finally, if your map is not complete or does not make this first round of matchmaking implementation, please complete it and submit it at your convenience so we may consider it for a future playlist update.
  2. The Community Cartographers are collecting Infection maps to be added to Halo 5's matchmaking playlist. While we don't have any dates to share, we know that 343 is intent on creating a playlist for this gametype shortly. We recommend that you submit your map to as many website platforms as possible to ensure that your map receives the recognition and attention it deserves. SUBMIT YOUR INFECTION MAP Please submit your infection maps on Halo Waypoint by visiting the following link: MAP SUBMISSION THREAD. Maps are due April 23rd When your infection map is complete and you are submitting it on Halo Waypoint, please follow the proper format when submitting your maps. Simply copy and paste the provided structure verbatim into your post. Failure to include portions of your submission may result in your map not being reviewed, please make sure to include everything that is not listed under the Optional section. For screenshots, you are free to embed them in your post, but please include a link to the screenshot on XboxDVR.com as well, so that I can download the original file at full resolution. For videos, please try to keep your video under two minutes, if possible. Map Name: Author(s): Gametype: (“Infection”, “Hivemind”, or create one of your own) Map Description: (at most 1-2 sentences) Screenshot: (XboxDVR link) (Optional) Video: (XboxDVR or YouTube link) Please use this thread for questions relating to submission guidlines or gametype information only. As you may have seen in the recent Reddit thread, The Truth Behind the Cartographers, we will be implementing a new map submission system on waypoint in the near future. "We've been keeping an eye on feedback on maps process for quite some time, including stuff dating back many years. The Forge, Multiplayer, and Community teams are working together to determine the best ways to heavily adjust processes and restructure moving forward, beginning with the next upcoming community map submission period, which will focus on grabbing some new Infection maps for consideration. Look forward to a Waypoint submission thread next week. Thanks for all of the feedback and thoughts thusfar." - BRAVO GAMETYPE DETAILS - 12 Players - All classic or previously existing infection game modes such as 'Infection', 'Hivemind', 'Braaains', etc. - Create your own custom gametype variant via custom menu options and test with your friends using honor rules. BE AVAILABLE FOR FEEDBACK After your infection map is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Community Cartographers. Finally, if your map does not make this first matchmaking implementation round, please still complete it and submit it in this thread so that we can update the playlist in the near future.
  3. Begin Transmission Welcome to 2015, a year that is shaping up to be big for Halo. Forgehub is breaking radio silence to announce our upcoming contest aimed at you, our faithful community! We have been busy, working behind the scenes to give you a chance to compete for the coveted title of Top Forger. Going Loud We are putting out bounties on the best 1v1 maps created in Halo 2 Anniversary. In order to be eligible, maps must be forged on one of the blank canvasses such as Awash, Skyward, or Nebula. In the spirit of community collaboration, co-forging with a buddy is allowed but every map must have a primary author, 18 years of age or older, who will be the recipient of any potential contest winnings. Maps must be original designs and works of your own making, plagiarism will be automatically omitted from winning. Coming in Hot Nothing heats up these cold winter days like the burning desire to take home some of these fantastic prizes! 1st Place - $500 2nd Place - Astro A50 Wireless Headset (Halo Edition) 3rd Place - Gunnar Glasses ($100 Gift Card) 4th Place - our appreciation Rally Point Alpha Entries must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM on March 5th, 2015 so that we have a chance to thoroughly review and test each map. All submissions should be tailored to 1v1 gameplay, both in size and in power weapon placement (generally speaking, smaller maps do not need as many power weapons as larger maps). Judging will commence after the submission deadline and winners will be announced on March 15th at 1pm. Maps should be designed around these settings: -Slayer gametype only (maps do not need to support objective gametypes) -Battle Rifle primary weapon -no secondary weapon -2 Frag grenades off spawn -110% player movement speed -radar disabled Judgement Day Eligible map submissions will be judged based on: Game-type Support Does the map function for the game-type(s) as necessary? Are all required objects and systems in place to successfully play a game?Fun-Factor Is the map fun to play on? Is the spaces fun to navigate through? Do the weapons, spawn and layout promote a positive game experience? Is the map balanced and fair for the given game-type?Performance Does the map suffer from any negative visual or performance issues?Originality / Creativity Rally Point Bravo The goal of this contest is two-fold. First, we want to find great maps...then we want to play on great maps! Yes, you heard right. The winning maps chosen from this contest will be played on during an upcoming tournament (so don't tell anyone about the hidden Rocket Launcher that only you know about). There you have it folks. If you didn't have a reason to forge before, you sure do now. Get out there and make us proud Hubbers. To arrange community test sessions, or to find someone to critique your map, please see this thread (thread link). The Smackdown To submit your map, simply create an account at www.ForgeHub.com, visit the "Maps" page and click on the "Submit Your Map" icon. Eligible submissions must contain at least 7 images per map. Youtube video gameplay or walkthroughs are heavily encouraged as well. For our convenience, please label "smackdown" in the 'search tag' section (this is not to be placed in the title of your map). This way we can find all of the contest entrants with one click of a button. End Transmission...
  4. Salty's first post and he's quoting "Hatred"
  5. Are you assuming we will be able to modify and adjust base traits in the beta or just vocalize them?
  6. Sword is the best thing Lockout has to offer besides snipe at the moment, it would never be removed because the map would be imbalanced.
  7. I agree, reduced grenade count and increased player speed to 110 would be ideal.
  8. Swords are back! More powerful than shotgun. I'd expect to see them used more prevalently in this game.
  9. Design something from scratch that isn't a successor to any previously existing maps. Something original and so great we can carve its name onto a wall next to The Pitt, Midship and Narrows. Something people will remember and will want to have remade for future titles. Something iconic.
  10. I didn't mean that literally....don't worry. I found some ideal textures for blocks: http://gametextures.com/architectural/plaster-textures.html Maybe we could throw something up in photoshop and send it off for them to look at... I also think Sanctuary's geometry would make a great pallet, an Erosion equivalent...just better of course. And have you guys seen Titanfall's: Training Simulator? That would be ideal for simple smooth forge textures. Or something that looks like H4's skyline.
  11. I have concerns as well, but I don't want to slap CA's face when they are making huge improvements. They will never get it "right". This is not something developers will understand unless one of them is a forger with years of tenure under their belt. Their concrete pallet shows lines across the 1x1 structure object. The banshee pad ground is a different color than the bridge diagonal. I still want to see different texture choices and am hoping that we can select them. Until we hear more about forge, I think so far we've seen some drastic improvements. Hard edges, simple textures and no colored patterns on objects...lets wait to see what else they have to say.
  12. I'm going to remake Simplex. I called dibs before K25...sorry Eddy
  13. I was impressed with the simple textures and hard edges on the 1x1 piece. I hope we get light / dark color variation with our new concrete textures. In addition to core gameplay, I hope we get all our fav gametypes out of the box, most of which didn't exist in previous versions of H2. All in all, I'm more optimistic than usual about forge releasing this November and its because Certain Affinity kept their ears close to the tracks. This is a great direction heading into the future, important lessons learned. Glad this thread was submitted early on. Looks like we've got most major bugs fixed. THREAD LOCK REQUEST
  14. very cool map. There's a loop in the trapezoid room with the lift and drop down but I could be convinced otherwise through gameplay. Love how purpose built all of the rooms are. Structure and cover merged together is my favorite kind of map (no crates). This is another one they are testing: There are a lot less restrictions when designing for UT, so its hard to really imagine this map Fatality is playing on for Halo. I just like the space and verticality.
