  1. This is the first episode...? I assume this is just a starting point for the rest of his videos, and I think he's making a very good point. The forge community likes to constrict what is "acceptable", and he's starting off by saying that anything can go, assuming you pull it off properly. Does he address what "properly" is, well, no. But again, I assume that's something he's going to do in the future.
  2. Dunno it definitely had that message for me, though (not just once either), it doesn't say it anymore though so it's public now.
  3. lmao something like that. the in-map framerate appears to be negligible. I haven't played any games on it though, so things like grenades and such might negatively affect the frames. I agree the bases are definitely lacking; I used so many blocks on the middle that I just sort of scrapped together the bases (hence the lack of an actual map release). Likely going to reforge the whole thing. I was so into the idea of this middle and this cliff structure that the bases suffered as a result
  4. xboxdvr.com/Resivore/dfe120c0-4984-4f2b-baec-0352eefb25e9 also, halo reach forge = best
  5. that's unfortunate, i'd kill to see what you'd forge with that palette..
  6. laughs you'll have better luck just waiting for h5
  7. I remember this from H4; looks good although I think I'd get lost if I were to play it.
  8. I've heard flinch is a glitch and is being removed. Couple places noting that: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Halo-5-Removing-Flinch-69230.html https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/6e35355aecdf4fd0acdaee3cc4156fd4/topics/halo-5-flinch/ae5eb886-bd25-4397-bd4d-d1f13cd0eb17/posts http://kotaku.com/flinch-is-going-away-for-halo-5-developers-say- They don't listen to everything, sure, but I think they're trying to compromise. Which arguably isn't the best choice, but at the same time, again, them removing AA's, loudouts, and ordinances may have been them listening to the community. All I'm saying is the outrage is disproportionately larger than the wrong they've done in H5 so far. But there's really no telling if they're truly hearing us until the final game comes out I suppose. I mean if everyone is just going to hate halo because it isn't an exact remake of H2 or H3 then why even bother... On the standpoint of forge, if the textures remain similar to what we see presented to us in the beta, then I do think they're trying to listen. And they certainly hear the multiplayer community more often than the forgers, so that goes to show that they're not trying to blatantly ignore everyone, although it may seem that way sometimes.
  9. No one's looking at the progress made from H4 to H5. Removal of ordinances and loadouts already makes the game infinitely more competitive. They nerfed sprint to the point of uselessness; which is essentially the best they're going to do because it appears they're heavily set against removing it entirely. The game still feels like halo to me; as someone who sucks at literally every other game besides halo, the fact that it took no more than two games for me to get into the flow of it is a clear sign that it's still got halo mechanics. I swear, I was hopeless at destiny for a full week and that's still an FPS. (referring to crucible) I'm not saying that it's perfect because it is far from it, but this has turned into Halo 5 bashing while it's already better than even Halo: Reach vanilla (so can we not pretend 343 was the one who crashed into the iceberg? Sure they sunk the ship with H4 and H2A's awful release, but come on, Reach was the iceberg and Bungie was the one who hit it.)
  10. If I had to guess I'd say they have zones similar to spawn and trait zones that have a handful of pre-decided names; things like "hall", "plat", "bridge", "window".
  11. It's possible that they're placeholder textures, however, I think that may be influenced by player feedback. Hopefully most non-forgers will see that this is easily the best palette ever given to us, and I myself have friends who are clueless about forge who are aware of the improvement that has been made here. Eh, that's just opinion. Halo 5 is the first Halo in a long time that has given me an itch to play it. At this point I think people are choosing to dislike it just because that's an easy thing to do, but I'm feeling relatively optimistic.
  12. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/01/05/halo-5-guardians-pegasus-and-orion-maps-revealed-ign-first First video appears to be revealing H5 forge maps? These textures look amazing for forge. dream come true.
  13. Under spawning like normal? edit: unless you meant on the map, in which case, don't see why putting them where you see fit wouldn't work either.
  14. From my experience, the bridges don't appear to be too much of a problem; perhaps it's just me, though. For example, I made a Zealot with no in-game framerate using 169 platform pieces; the majority of which were bridge pieces; maybe 10 maximum were not. (The map has a total of 551 objects disregarding spawns and weapons.) I would try taking out the grass planes before anything else; seven is a fairly hefty amount and if it doesn't change anything by simply removing them then you can clear that up for everyone else wondering if they're bad pieces to use. The coliseum walls may be problematic as well; though I'm not sure. I certainly wouldn't go to delete them first in this map as the contrast is refreshing. Also, not that you have any, but for anyone reading this, lights are pretty bad for frame rate when used in abundance. Which I guess is sort of a no-brainer, but I think I saw someone post saying lights weren't problematic, when truthfully, they are. Anyway, it looks sick, hope you don't have to sacrifice too much. Best of luck waging war on frames ;0
  15. It's cool when you're forging and they decide to update the game and not give you the chance to save your crap. :^)
  16. I feel like I'm playing Minesweeper when it comes to avoiding frame rate. wrong object and b o o m youre dead
  17. its a nice thought, but I doubt you'd want them to end up looking like a brown paper bag thanks certain affinity
  18. This is quite helpful; as I'm having issues with framerate and have no real idea on how I should be combating it. If you get any info regarding the 10x10 flats and or tall blocks, I'd be interested in hearing about those as well.
  19. I played a 4 player FFA on it; that's where the frames are only noticeable if you're looking. At the end of the day, I doubt it's dropping below 55 fps, if even that much.
  20. Embarrassing indeed. What's the use in having 650 objects if by the time you hit 400 the frames start dropping. In any case, I will say we did ask for this; to have our selection of objects and to be able to handle framerate ourselves. I completed my Zealot, and there are some frames, but they're only really there if you're looking for them. Yeah, H2A. Honestly not going to forge on H3, so you'd be better off asking someone else. If you look back at the video, they definitely moved unbelievably slow. But the framerate probably has more to do with how many objects there are in one specific area, and as they had spread the objects out, I don't think framerate would be that big of an issue comparable to throwing 500 objects in an area the size of a grid. But I dunno, i don't actually know how exactly frames work tbh. //shot I agree, but honestly I like the look of Halo 4 better than H2A.
  21. I'm finding framerate to be problematic, personally.
