Beyond Entertainment Holiday 2017 Gift Guide | Beyond Entertainment

The holiday season is upon us once again, so some of the staff members here at Beyond got together and compiled a list of some must-have items for the holiday season. Check out some of our favorite holiday items below!

ASTRO A40 TR Headset & TR MixAmp by Joe

Price: $250

For the esports competitor looking to step their game up this holiday season, here is your chance. I would recommend picking up the ASTRO A40 TR Headset along with the TR MixAmp so you can gain a clear edge over your opponents.

I personally use the TR Headset & TR MixAmp when playing games like Halo 5, Call of Duty WW2, and especially Player Unknowns Battlegrounds. Hearing your opponents footsteps a half a second before they come around the corner will make all the difference when chasing the ever-illusive chicken dinner.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild by Ryan

Price: $60

Among the incredible lineup of Nintendo Switch titles in 2017 is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This new iteration of the beloved Zelda gameplay formula takes remarkable steps forward that will lay the foundation for future installments of the franchise. Journey across the largest Hyrule open-world map to date with next to no limitations on combat, exploration, and discovery.

Whether you’re looking for a fun campaign full of dungeons, puzzles, and storytelling, or looking to complete all 120 discoverable shrines littered throughout the map, Breath of the Wild offers a myriad of open-world gameplay options that are bound to entice you in some shape or form.

Squad by Shekkles

Price: $40

In the crowded market that is first-person shooters, Squad finds the niche between the hardcore military simulation of ArmA and the controlled chaos of Battlefield. Squad is the brainchild of former Battlefield 2: Project Reality mod team members. Powered by the Unreal Engine 4, the game encompasses tactical, realistic gunplay with a heavy focus on teamwork. Armoured vehicles, base building, artillery, 10km squared maps and 100 player servers are all current features with main battle tanks, helicopters and jets to be added in the future.

With a mix of objective game modes, realistic audio, a thriving community and open map design, you won’t find a more intense modern combat experience anywhere on steam. The game is in Early Access and is nearing a full release expected in Q2 of 2018. Until then, you can pick it up on Steam for $39.99 or wait for one of the frequent sales.

Nintendo Switch by Ray

Price: $300

It’s been awhile since I’ve personally owned a Nintendo console, but wow did this console surprise me this year. With hit games such as Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Arms, and the Game of The Year—The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the Switch boasts an impressive lineup of titles.

If you have a casual or hardcore gamer in your life, this is now a must-own system that’s easy to travel with and easy to play around your home. Don’t forget to also pick up an extra pair of Joy-Cons to play with up to 4 people!

Rocket League by Frankie

Price: $20

A game that can be easily understood and played by beginners, but still have a high enough skill ceiling to support a major esports scene is a rare thing to find these days. Even more rare is having that game be available for PC, Linux, PS4, Xbox, and Switch. Oh, and it supports cross-platform play too!

Psyonix’s Rocket League provides players with an unbelievably fun and fast-paced experience of playing soccer with rocket-powered, acrobatic cars. With multiple game types such as casual and ranked 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4, and additional variations of the game like basketball, hockey, dropshot, and rumble, you’ll find yourself spending hours at a time playing Rocket League. This is the perfect game for casual and competitive gamers alike. The best news is that the game is only $20, and you can regularly find it on sale for $15. High replay value for a low price is always a great buy!

We want to take a quick moment and wish everyone a Happy Holiday and New Year. Thank you for the incredible support throughout 2017, from posting on our forums to playing in our Halo and Rocket League tournaments. It’s been an incredible year for the team, and we can’t wait to show you what we have planned for 2018!
