Twitch and Blizzard Sign Streaming Deal

By: James Glaze | June 21st, 2017

For the next two years, all major Blizzard eSports events will be streamed exclusively on Twitch.  Twitch beat out competitors like Google’s Youtube Gaming and Microsoft’s Mixer.  This is huge news for both eSports fans and competitors as it can sometimes be confusing as where gaming competitions are being streamed.

With the Twitch/Blizzard partnership, over 20 major events will be hosted in this deal. Some of those eSports events include:

  • Overwatch APEX League
  • Overwatch Premier Series
  • Heroes of the Storm Global Championship (HGC)
  • Hearthstone Global Games (HGG)
  • StarCraft 2 World Championship Series (WCS Circuit)
  • Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT)
  • World of Warcraft Arena Championship

Alongside this deal, Twitch Prime members are going to receive free in game loot in Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm. It has already been announced that from now until August 10th, Prime members will receive an Overwatch loot box that has a legendary item inside.  There will be similar rewards for other Blizzard games but no details have been given at this time.
