Titanfall 2: The War Games Announced

Respawn Entertainment is continuing to follow up on their free DLC plan for Titanfall 2. The next DLC, titled “The War Games” was announced today and is set to release on June 27th, with a trailer arriving on the same day. The drop will contain a fan-favorite map from the original Titanfall, War Games. It will also include a new map for Titanfall 2’s Live Fire mode, titled Traffic. A new execution will also be included, called “Shadow Boxing,” which utilizes the Holo Pilot ability.

Respawn will also be including a number of gameplay changes with this update. The most important of which is that a third weapon slot will be added for Pilots. Typically, Pilots can take a primary weapon and choose between either a sidearm or an Anti-Titan weapon. Anti-Titan weapons were by far the most common choice, so this change should allow a few of the lesser known weapons to be shown off. A new mode, Free Agents, will also be featured upon release, but no details have been specified yet. Titan Brawl will also become a permanent mode, much to the satisfaction of the community. Respawn did state that more balance changes would be detailed in the patch notes closer to launch.

Respawn also took the time to talk about a few statistics regarding the franchise as well as tease the next DLC for Titanfall 2. According to the article, nearly 20 million people have played either the original Titanfall or Titanfall 2. They went on to state that due to the consistent, free DLC, they are seeing a vibrant, engaged player-base with currently over a million active players a month and that Titanfall 2 will be updated to support 4K on the Xbox One X. To close, Respawn stated that July will entail a massive DLC update including a favorite mode from the original, which much of the community suspects is the Frontier Defense wave-defense mode.
