Rainbow Six Siege is the long awaited reboot of the Rainbow Six franchise. A short time ago, the intended release date of Rainbow Six was pushed back to December 1st, 2015. However, pre-ordering now secures players a spot in the closed beta for the game, beginning on September 24th. Today, Ubisoft released a statement regarding Rainbow Six Siege DLC that will excite many fans of the upcoming title.
Following the trend set by games such as Evolve, as well as Halo 5: Guardians, Rainbow Six Siege DLC will be released at no cost to all players. Here’s what Ubisoft had to say:
At launch, Rainbow Six Siege will have 11 maps, playable both day or night, all using the full potential of our Real Blast destruction technology – in addition, all post-launch maps will be downloadable for free. We want players to stay with us for the long term and have ambitious post-launch plans that we will detail at a later stage.
Rainbow Six Siege releasing free DLC is continuing the new trend of post-launch content for large game franchises. This change will allow every player to have access to all content in the game, compared to other games where some players may miss out on gameplay with other people due to lack of DLC. Hopefully this trend continues for future AAA titles in the coming years.
