On a live stream today, Epic Games have announced that a new Unreal Tournament game is under development.
They have promised to involve the community as much as possible and they seek their guidance on what you want. It seems they are also going to be collaborating closely with Unreal developers for the next iteration of the series. They’ve also announced that the game will be totally free. There won’t be any micro-transactions and all future add-ons will also be free. The game is slated for release on Windows, Linux and Mac but no definitive date has been set.

It has been traditional for Epic to release an Unreal Tournament game alongside each incarnation of their Unreal Engine. It has become Epic’s own way of showing off their newest engine in all its glory. The last game in the series, Unreal Tournament 3 was released in 2007 and was critically well received.
The Unreal Engine 4 had been in development since 2003 according to Mark Rein, the vice-president of Epic Games, The Engine features massive improvements over the 3rd and introduced a new type of licensing model.
We’ll of course keep you updated with any further developments and announcements in the future!
