The world has not seen a Splinter Cell game since 2013’s well-received entry into the franchise, Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Many fans were hoping for a trailer or announcement of some sort at E3 2017, but were unfortunately were left in the dark. However, franchise fans did receive some information from Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot.
Guillemot stated in an interview that the Splinter Cell franchise is still talked about often and has certainly not been forgotten. While he did remind everyone that their is nothing to be shared or talked about at the moment, he added that many teams are working on several different projects and that fans should stay tuned for more.
Guillemot spoke more about Splinter Cell on a Ubisoft blog. He stated that Ubisoft was in the process of going over several different proposals for the brand and that they were planning to pick one as a basis for a new Splinter Cell game. Unfortunately, Guillemot’s wording suggests that the project is still only in pre-production, meaning that a finished game is still some years away. However, the fact that the franchise hasn’t been forgotten is a positive note for many fans.
