UPDATE: Gamespot has now released brand new footage of Lockout for Halo 2: Anniversary, in it we can see the new dynamic element is falling ice from the ceilings of the map.
Lockout – the iconic snow and ice map from Halo 2 has been confirmed as the next map to be getting the Anniversary treatment in Halo 2 Anniversary.
Lockout will join the following Halo 2 Anniversary re-mastered maps:
In a news post on Gamespot – Max Hoberman announced the newest map remake, adding that while staying true to the original, the map has been modified slightly for a more modern feel.
What types of changes will we see? Hoberman writes, “Most prominent among these are a bit of cover added to the ‘Elbow,’ the long walkway connecting the grav lift to the sniper tower, and a dynamic element that should help counter an entrenched group of enemies. Of course this can be disabled in Forge for players who want a near-match of the original experience.”
With PAX Prime taking place this weekend, many players are eager to see what maps and gametypes will be used in the Halo 2 Anniversary PAX Prime Showdown – with Lockout being announced a little ahead of time, it seems like we’ll be getting a glimpse of this map in some competitive gameplay.
Below you will find a few pieces of concept art from the remastered version of Lockout – although, the map may not be called Lockout in the final product. Remember that just like Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, the multiplayer maps are getting new & unique names to separate them from their originals.
With maps like Ascension, Zanzibar, Coagulation, Sanctuary and now Lockout remade – what map are you eager to see next? Remember, there’s only one more remake remaining.
