Halo Wars 2 arrived in the hands of fans around the world in Februrary, and was met with fairly positive reviews (See: Halo Wars 2 Review). Since then, the game has seen two monthly DLC drops and numerous updates to keep fans interested.
However, there is more than just the sequel for RTS Halo fans to digest. Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, a modern port of the original Halo Wars installment, was available exclusively in Halo Wars 2’s Ultimate Edition. Today, 343 Industries and Microsoft have unveiled the stand-alone re-release for the original title from Ensemble Studios.
Players will be able to dive back in to the origin of the war against the Covenant across numerous platforms: Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam. The game will be available for stand-alone purchase across all three platforms on April 20th, 2017.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition includes improved graphics, new achievements, and all of the original DLC content provided for the game. This release marks the first time an online Halo title has been released without being connected to Microsoft’s Xbox Live services; Steam players will not have access to cross-play with those who purchase the game from the Windows 10 store.
