Recently, many numbers have been thrown around about how much hard drive space Halo 5: Guardians is going to take up on the Xbox One later this month. Xbox.com has a listing for 46GB but the recently revealed box art seems to say players will need up to 60GB of free space.
A spokesperson from Microsoft recently contacted Gameinformer and revealed the size of the game to them, including the size of the day one patch which will contain some of the multiplayer content and bug fixes.
“Halo 5: Guardians will require approximately 55GB of hard drive space for the complete game. Digital copies will include the full game (~55GB), and disc copies will require approximately a 9GB download for multiplayer map content.”
So if you were planning on staying up all night to play Halo 5: Guardians later this month, you might be staying up all night watching a progress bar move, the speed depending entirely on your internet connection. With digital pre-loads going live sometime this week for Halo 5: Guardians, you will be able to download both the game and the day one patch ahead of October 27th so you’re ready to go when the game unlocks in your region.
If you have yet to decide on whether to get a physical or a digital copy of the game, I would highly advise getting a digital copy as it will save you from doing a 46GB disc install and a 9GB patch when you finally get your disc.
