Social playlists are set to arrive in Halo 5: Guardians later this week with the Cartographers Gift content update which will also bring Forge, Arena Seasons, three new Arena maps and a brand new Warzone map.
343 Industries recently confirmed that when the content update releases this week, there would be two social playlists available – one of them is Big Team Battle which has been in the game for around a month and is currently ranked. In fact, Big Team Battle actually became Social for all of 15 minutes yesterday but was quickly reverted.
Alongside Big Team Battle, a second social playlist will also be introduced but 343 Industries have decided to keep said playlist a secret until the update actually drops. However, it seems that secret may have slipped through the official Halo 5: Guardians API. Currently under the Playlists section of the API, a brand new playlist is listed called “Holiday Social” and its description reads:
“Kick back, relax, and play a mix of non-ranked modes, including Slayer, Snipers, and more. Happy Holidays!”
It seems like this special playlist will be replacing the weekend playlist and its polls until early 2016 and to make up for it, will feature a variety of gametypes previously featured in these playlists such as Snipers.
Since 343 Industries has yet to officially announce the playlist, we don’t know the full list of gametypes or if it will feature bonus XP/bonus REQ points. Once we know more details on the playlist, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
