Gears of War was a franchise created originally by Epic Games with the first major release being in 2006 and followed by Gears of War 2, 3 and Judgement.
After Judgement released, Epic Games announced that the Gears of War franchise had been sold to Microsoft. Microsoft later announced that Gears of War had be given to Black Tusk Studios and ultimately handing them responsibility of future titles.
After seeing Halo: The Master Chief Collection, many players in the Gears community have been asking for a similar thing to happen with the original Gears of War trilogy were all three games are ported over to the Xbox One and played from a single-disc, except done correctly this time around.
Rod Fergusson, Studio Manager at Black Tusk Studios recently sent out a tweet in response to these requests and rumors:
I love the passion, but there’s no Marcus Fenix Collection. We ARE working on other exciting Gears projects. I'll see you at E3!
— Rod Fergusson (@GearsViking) March 19, 2015
So while there is no Marcus Fenix Collection in the works featuring Gears of War 1, 2 and 3, other Gears of War projects are in the makes and will presumably be unrelated to the next major Gears of War title coming from the studio.
With Fergusson saying “See you at E3!”, it is all but confirmed that we will be seeing some sort of new Gears of War project or title when the Xbox Briefing kicks off in June at E3 2015. What sort of Gears of War title would you like to see out of Black Tusk Studios later this year? Discuss the news on our forums now!
