After what appeared to be a disappointing announcement for Xbox Fortnite fans, Epic Games has come forward a few days afterwards to announce that Xbox will also be joining in on some of the cross-platform play action. Xbox will feature cross-play and cross-progression with these platforms.

After once initially enabling cross-platform play by accident, Epic Games has come full circle by announcing that in addition to coming to iOS and Android, Fortnite Battle Royale will soon feature cross play and shared progression across multiple platforms.
In an official announcement from the Fortnite development team, Epic Games revealed a partnership with Sony to bring cross-platform play to what is already becoming the #1 Battle Royale game on the market.
“In partnership with our friends at Sony, Fortnite Battle Royale will support Cross Play and Cross Progression between PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS and eventually Android. This means players across devices can squad up with friends and play together.
We believe this is the future of games. The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want.”
Fortnite Battle Royale is entirely free to play on every platform listed below, and will soon allow for cross play and progression across all platforms other than Xbox.
- PlayStation 4
Starting Monday, March 12, players will be able to sign up to receive an email invite to participate in the battle royale on iOS. Players who download the game will also receive invites to share with friends and fellow squad members.
