Developer Epic Games’ is taking a different strategy with their upcoming Battle Royale game, Fortnite, by going free-to-play. Currently players have been playing the game via paid early access, but upon official release this month, the game will be completely free.
Like other popular battle royale games such as PUBG and H1Z1, Fortnite will drop 100 players into a fight to the death competition. The game does have some unique features such as being able to craft weapons and build fortified structures.
Epic Games is hoping with the free-to-play structure, Fortnite will draw players to the game. The developer has also promised that they will not sell in-game items that give an advantage to players. Epic Games only stated that some time in the future cosmetic items may be introduced. Fortnite becomes available September 26th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC for free.
