Bluehole Studio’s battle royale smash hit PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting its own company. Here’s what we know about PUBG Corp.
Bluehole has announced that they have created a subsidiary company, coined “PUBG Corp”, to operate and manage PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The company, including Chang Han Kim (CEO) and Woonghee Cho (COO), plan to be “focused entirely on the development and global business opportunities” for the battle royale hit.
PUBG is currently in a paid early access period. Bluehole’s future plans are unknown, but PUBG Corp will likely play a big part in it.
“This new structure allows us to be nimble as we look towards the expansion of strategic business opportunities that include the game’s potential in the esports sector and the growth of PUBG as a true global IP franchise” – Change Han Kim, PUBG Corp CEO
Battlegrounds has seen explosive success on Steam, its first release platform. The game has sold over 10 million copies. Recent controversy has developed over Bluehole Studio, as the studio has stated they are considering action against a similar battle royale genre game made by Epic Games.
